Petraco Forensic Consulting is a privately owned forensic laboratory service owned and operated by Nicholas Petraco. Mr. Petraco is a retired NYPD detective having worked in the NYPD Forensic Laboratory system for 18 years prior to his retirement. For the past five years Mr. Petraco has been serving as the first contracted Forensic Science Consultant to the NYCPD Forensic Investigation Division where he lectures and trains both forenic scientists and crime scene investigators.

Mr. Petraco is a Diplomat of the American Board of Criminalistics (ABC). He is also an ABC certified forensic scientist with over 30 years experience in forensic casework. He has testified as and expert witness over 400 times in both federal and state courts around the country. In addition, he has taught forensic science and forensic microscopy for over 20 years at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, CUNY. Mr. Petraco have published several books on forensic science topics and has authored numerous scientific articles in professional journals. Mr. Petraco is a fellow of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the New York Microscopical Society. His organization is associated with many nationally certified and recognized forensic scientists who can conduct any type of forensic examination from physical matches to DNA analysis for both civil and criminal matters. These services are available for domestic and international investigations. Mr. Petraco is a NYS licensed science teacher, and he teaches many different forensic microscope courses with TAKA.
