10 Weeks smoke free!! but it has been far from easy......

ok folks i have to tell you that if you think its easy to quit smoking cold turkey.......

well you are in for quite a shock!

i have been through hell trying to kick this nasty habit, and i dont know what is  worse?

is it the habit?

 or the withdrawal symptoms?

well its both. first of all if any smoker really knew what the nicotene does to you when it is leaving the body you would never pick up a cigarette EVER!! the burning sensations through your body, the weird tingling / pulsating feeling in  your upper chest is enough to drive you nuts! the anxiety attacks and depression you go through day in and day out. then mourning your old pal cigarettes is horrible and almost unbearable.

the aches and pains in your stomach and muscle spasms do not help either.

but...

there is an upside to the new energy level you have!!

you feel physically fine but,

you still have the aches , pains & anxiety as well as the panic attacks and mood swings to deal with .

if you want to quit before you do it tell your doctor if you have one ,

and do not get zyban it sucks!

get  ativan 0.25 mg it is a great help it will relax you and put your mind at ease.

you still get cravings for a cigarette everyday.

i know i still do,but i drink a small glass of water when i do and walk outside way far away from the smokers.

smelling other smokers smoking doesnt help at all. so avoid it at all costs.

now i know how it feels to be a non smoker smelling smoke its terrible.

and i must honestly say i am so sorry that i ever picked up the cigarette habit.

please tell your children not to smoke ever and encourage them to be a role model for others.

i have ran up a kings ransom in medical bills since i have quit smoking and i have no insurance so i am self pay, i am glad the hospital is giving me a discount & payment plan on this . i have had an MRI, CT Scan, numerous ekg's ,cardiac stress test, lab work etc...

all because of the fore mentioned symptoms above, yeah you feel like your having a heart attack OR WORSE sometimes.

it is awful & stressfull this is the only way i could describe the situation of quitting smoking for good!!!

if you cannot quit for yourself do it for your kids!

you have my support! it was hard but i did it.

Bravo for you!  I know exactly how you felt for I smoked for over 40 years and I was in the battle of my life when I tried to quit.  After many failures I finally did it and I am so very thankful for cigarette smoking was virtually affecting every major organ in my body.  I still want to follow a smoker down the street to get a whiff of a cig every now and then and after 5 years I still have an occasional craving for a cigarette but it passes quickly.  I am very glad for you that you have quit.  Blessings and continued success

Good for you. I am in the same position but I have not quit. I just send blessings to my body and do energy work around it.  I have tried to pills and did not give them a chance to work. I am the only person I know in town that smokes and I always feel there is hugh judgement around me. I wish there was that much attention placed on their own life. You can not smell abuse, neglect and other things so they are not noticed. Smoke is, well repulsive and so is addiction. Look all the energy our society has put on it. Does it put shame and guilt to have people quit I smoke organic American Spirit. Yes, I know they are still smokes. My smoking is preventing me from going to the Temple. I am a member of a church that has a Word of Wisdom. So I know I am missing out on things I want to do. When I quit I think people will take me more seriously. Healer Heal Thyself  The more energy you put on anything the more you get back. I spent a lot of time  trying    to quit and just smoked more. So, I am asking for one more miracle and Grace for myself and everyone. Sincerely, Michelle

Congratulations!  I quit smoking 5 months ago, but like Rosie, still have occasional craving.  I admire you for going cold turkey - I used the Commit lozenges and still do every now and then because the 3rd to 5th month has always been my downfall when I've tried to quit before.  They're pricey little lozenges, but they keep me away from the cigarettes.  Hang in there because the worst part really is behind you.

Good for you, I quit smoking 2 years ago.  I am so glad, even with all the symptoms you are talking about.  It took me about 1 year of off again on again.  Its well worth it.  I hard ever really get sick anymore. I feel better most of the time. I know how hard it is.  Keep with it. TRish
