Any Belly Dancers out here?

Everchanging, evolving, and expanding....I signed up for a belly dancing class!!! Having never taken any type of dance class (I am one of those 'wiggle-your-booty-shake-your-hips-arms-in-the-air' type of dancers!) I signed up for the beginners class. It is a six weeks class that meets once a week for a hour and my first class is tomorrow evening!! I'm so excited but I haven't a clue what to expect. The instructor informed me that it is the perfect class for someone with little or no knowledge and that I will love learning new ways to move my body. Hmmm...do we have any belly dancers among us bloggers (Speakers & Seekers)?? If so, I would definitely appreciate any insight as to what to expect for my first class.

I do know if I walk in there and see a room full of 20-something year olds with rock-hard abs & curvy little bodes--I'm high-tailin' it outta there!! lol

And on that note...

I will be signing on for calls this morning. from 10 a.m. - 1 pm CST w/brks. AND 6 p.m. - 11 p.m. w/brks CST. As always, callbacks are appreciated to ensure we connect. I look foward to talking with everyone today. Looking forward to hearing from you closet belly dancers!

Congratulations! You are going to have a great new adventure! I started studyng dance at 32...belly dancing, body movement, tribal, etc. I had an agent by the time I was 34 and now dance for a living taking contracts at different times of the year. Expect to be transformed as you learn to express emotions & feelings through movement of your body. As time goes by you'll wonder how you ever lived without dance! Don't worry, all the young rock-hards are in hip hop classes...lol. I was the only one who showed up for my first class, I had the instructor all to myself for 10 weeks. Thanks Jamie! I appreciate the input and am really looking forward to learning something new...being a Virgo w/Libra cusp, I thrive on learning new things & enjoy the beauty of music/dance/and surroundings--this should fit the bill perfectly!

Hmmm, hip-hop? Well my 20 yr old daughter who has been involved in dance since Jr. High is dances Hip-Hop quite well and has been bugging me about learnind hip-hop so we can be a mother-daughter team!! Who knows, eh? LOL

That's so cool, your daughter sounds like a fun gal! That first class I was talking about where I was the only one who showed up was belly dancing, so it was an easy gentle environment to explore from. What I have learned is that we all have our own natural rhythm & movement. There are so many ways to acknowledge that part of ourselves through the infinite forms of dance. It has truly become my most connective channel with Source! Try it all! I hope you will keep us posted on your adventure, I'll check your page when I'm back online later this week. oh yah, have a blast!!!
