Holiday Spirit...Where has it gone?
I have always prided myself on maintaining an upbeat positive attitude and being polite to others, even when faced with unpleasant situations or rudeness. However, yesterday was a true test of my good nature!
My son invited me to go to the mall with him yesterday to do some last minute shopping for his girl. I mentally prepared myself for the crowds, long lines, and hustle & bustle common since it is the weekend before Christmas. However, the rudeness and just plain nasty attitudes of those we encountered...yuck!
My son & I laughed, joked, and teased our way around the overcrowded mall. And even maintained our sense of humor as others were pushing, cutting in line, and making rude comments about the service, prices, and other shoppers. Total craziness!
During these moments we would look at one another, smile, and break into song just to ease up the tension! And to maintain a bit of holiday cheer in a place gone mad!
So for those of you who must wander out there to do some last minute shopping, take an ex-large dose of humor, patience, compassion, and strive to spread some holiday cheer--the world needs it!
