This morning...
Thanks to everyone for the warm wishes & prayers for my friend this morning. Although we had to wait a couple hours before going in, the actual 'face time' in the court room was very brief. As we were leaving I made sure I positioned myself behind my friend and the "noise" from the proverbial 'peanut gallery'. The judge was stern with the biological mother and said her 'one last chance' expired 5 chances ago--no, he would not reinstate visitation as the mother a no-show/no-call for all previously scheduled visitations. And then he set a trial date for Nov 5.
My friend did so well that after we left the courtroom she had to ask me what the mother had said, was wearing, said to judge...etc etc. I had to laugh because she was the one standing right next to her in front of the judge. When I pointed this out to her, she responded with "Well you told me to look straight ahead, ignore the mother, and to completely detach from her. Look only at the judge...so I did!" LOL
Then we went and enjoyed a lovely lunch at the St Louis Bread Co.--laughing and talking about our upcoming party Saturday! And to think, I was worried about "Jerry Springer" moments? Ha!
So, I am now back at work--a little later than normal, but here nonetheless. I will be signed in til appoximately 4:00 then take a few hours off and back on around 6:00 CST. If I am on a break or on another call, leave a callback to ensure we connect today!
