FEBRUARY UPDATE ON JOBS FOR THE FUTURE!

I wrote an article on 'jobs in demand' for the future a few months ago.  This article got the most readers which tells me it was a 'newsworthy post'.  Today I am updating this article.

Jobs in demand for 2009-into the future are rapidly changing.  Industries are facing closures they never have had in 20+ years.  People are standing in long lines for unemployment-and some states are applying for government funds to 'pay' because state 'funds' have 'run out'.

We are facing what appears to be a spiraling economic crisis-with companies facing cutting jobs weekly according to news statistics.  The stimulis package is still awaiting approval by Tuesday which will help many issues-such as banks, peoples mortgages, developing new jobs and help 'bail out' the economy throughout this year gradually.

What ARE the JOBS that will continue to BE in demand NOW in 2009 and beyond-ones that we 'know' will survive far into the future?  I have done my homework again-and below are my findings:

TOP 5 JOBS IN DEMAND NOW AND INTO 2010-AND BEYOND:

Hospitality-Hotel Industries
Retail-Major stores are continually seeking Sales Reps or Customer Service
Education-Schools, colleges and universities-cannot keep enough "qualifed" Teachers
Health Care-Urgent needs for nurses, researchers, lab technicians, licensed Therapists
Accounting-Auditors, Financial Analysts, compliance personel,

I researched many sites online and articles and once again saw some of the 'same' things listed in my PRIOR article-but still listed as TOP 30 JOBS for 2009-ON!

Network systems and data analysts
Home care Aids/sitter
Home heath care
Computer software engineers
Veterinary technicians
Personal financial Advisors
Makeup artists
Medical assistants
Veterinarians
Substance abuse counselors
Skin Care specialists
Financial Analysts
Social and human service assistants
Gaming Surveillance officers/gaming investigators
Physicial Therapists/assistants
Forensic Science Technicians
Dental Hygientists/assistants
Mental Healh Care Counselors/therapists
Marriage and family counselors
Database system analysts
Computer software engineers/systems softwares
Gaming and sports book writers/runners
Manicurists/pedicurists
Physical Therapists
Physician assistants

Maybe your response is "I don't know HOW to do 'those things'? SOME of that may be true about 'technical jobs'--but NOT customers reps or service as most DO train.  You have two options here--go after jobs that WILL train you--OR make a decision that you can OBTAIN a different career by getting the EDUCATION you need for that job field!
It's NEVER too late to re-educate yourself if you are in good physical health-and are able to do so!  It may open up a door to a new career you never dreamed you could achieve!
Sometimes we are 'afraid of change'--don't be!  Sometimes SPIRIT will put us in a position that will give us an OPPORTUNITY to make a CHANGE for the better!

Could this be a GOOD time to start your own business?

My answer-ABSOLUTELY YES!  It depends on what type of business-but below ARE some job descriptions that I feel CAN be profitable--and most banks now DO help people who NEED their assistance in starting a much 'needed' new business!

NEW CAREERS THAT CAN PROFIT:

Nursery/daycare facility (check out LICENSES/LEGAL PAPERWORK AND REQUIREMENTS*) You must be licensed and know your home will qualify for daycare.
Catering service (do you COOK/specialize in foods AND have a friend who can also?--CONSIDER a catering service!*) GOOD catering services will always be in demand!
Engine repair/mechanics (lots of large corporations are 'cutting back'-but do you have experience in engine repair, servicing and general car maintenance? Open up with a friend or relative who ALSO would is a dependable and qualified mechanic! Open up your OWN "Two men and a SHOP"-and give SUPERIOR service to each customer! MECHANICS that are good will always be in DEMAND-as everyone MUST get car repairs into the future!
Computer Repair (again-find a 'out of work friend'-who ALSO can do computer repairs/has basic knowledge of softwares and also doing 'custom systems'*) I just talked to a guy whose company is 'closing' (MAJOR appliances and repairs*)-he and a friend are going to open up their OWN computer repair service! Will they suceed in their new venture?  I definitely think they will!  GOOD computer techs aim to 'please the customers' with TOP quality service!
Accounting/Tax Service (this type of business will always be in DEMAND*!)-if you are qualified in bookeeping, tax preparation, and don't mind 'overtime'-this just could open up a door to owning a business that can prosper into the future! GOOD accountants are needed!
Housecleaning Service (you must be willing to commit to hard work/honesty and integrity-and find a friend/relative who is the 'same'!*) Cleaning services can be for homes but also focus on BUSINESSES-who often DO use cleaning services for medium-large office buildings!
Home Repair (some contractors also may wish to consider this during 'slow times' in contracting homes*). To do basic home repair you MUST have basic knowledge of 'around the home repairs' or carpentry skills/plumbing among others.  How many times have you had a leaky 'pipe' or a door to jam and can't FIND a 'repairman' who does home repairs at the last minute within budget?  If you are a 'handyman' who loves to 'fix things' and can provide references/skills needed-KNOW it's HARD to find a dependable and reputable person who can do home repairs!   Most money-conscious people PREFER "FIX-IT" vs "BUY IT!"
Wedding planners/photography (do you love weddings/are a perfectionist when it comings to 'making plans'?*) Consider a career in planning weddings for others and if possible-find a freelance PHOTOGRAPHER-who has a good track record for quality work-and flexible to working WITH you! Friends/relatives can be of help also-but this is definitely a 'teamwork job'! Also check out catering services that specialize IN wedding cakes/decorations that offer discounts to new clients!

THINGS TO CONSIDER ABOUT STARTING A NEW BUSINESS:

Finding the RIGHT LOCATION! (this has everything to do with 'FUTURE traffic'!*)
Finding the right PERSONS to work with or INVEST with!  Remember you need people who want this as badly as YOU do and are dedicated and qualified!
Find the right bank who seem excited to share in your dream!
Don't go to just 'one bank' and if you get turned down by one-KEEP GOING to others! Talk to at least 3 finanical instituations-and do not sign anything until you fully understand and AGREE with the 'terms of the loan'!

# re: FEBRUARY UPDATE ON JOBS FOR THE FUTURE!

Your posting is very timely. There was an article on MSN, on states with the lowest and highest unemployment rates. Good info for those out looking so they can realize where they stand or if they should consider outside state jobs.

Did you see any jobs as a Martian Princess, for the future? It would like to apply for that! I could get a tiarra and put have tiarra will travel on my resume! Also wave well.
