Picking Up the Pieces in Life

Yesterday while trying to change a wall calendar flipping the pages-I accidently hit a bird clock that I've had forever and treasure.  When I flipped a page upwards-the calendar page tipped the clock and it came crashing down onto the floor-it's face shattering into 50 pieces of broken glass. I stared and then I cried-at the mess before me.  I went to get a box and began gathering up all the broken shards of glass-one by one into the box.  I wondered if the clock would ever work again-the bird clock usually sings every hour on the hour-with a variety of 12 different songbirds chirping each hour.  Would they still even work or operate-or the clock at all?  I didn't know-and said a silent prayer they would.

After gatherinig all the broken pieces of glass-I sat them aside for the trash-and picked up the clock-only to find the batteries had fell out-scattered on the floor.  I began to put them back in one by one-saying a prayer the entire time for the broken mess in my hands.  As I loaded the last battery and lifted the clock back upwards to the wall-a broken shard with the glass frame pricked my finger-and I began to see blood flowing down my finger.  Quickly I ran to the bathroom and applied pressure and bandaged up the finger.I walked back into my office and looked up.  The clock was working-at least the hands were moving!  I was amazed to find it worked-but would the birds still 'chirp' with their individual songs that filled my office with such beauty?  I began to carefully move the hands that normally activate or reset the sensor within the clock-and YES it began to chirp and each turn began to flood my office with songbirds one by one!

I later sat back and contemplated the broken clock-and it reminded me of somethings we all go through in our daily lives.

Sometimes just when we are feeling all broken and that NOTHING can put back all the pieces of what we once were-we are reminded-to be broken can be to be RESTORED-MAYBE in a different way-but it happens when we least expect them to!

During the times we are 'broken'-whether it be by an emotional pain or hurt-we have to re-evaulate what we are made of-and start over.  Feeling broken and vulnerable may not feel 'good'-but it is the only time Spirit can work WITH us-to show us all is not 'lost' or gone.  It is only a time for change or renewal-and a time to heal and focus on what we've learned.
Then we can began to slowly heal, picking up the 'pieces' of whatever we are going through-and thank Spirit all is NOT lost-bad things do NOT last forever-as we begin to focus on better things to come.

When we are broken we can begin to review our lives and those we have in them-and realize life is still good-when we don't give up HOPE in a better tomorrow.

IF you happen to feel 'broken' today no matter WHAT you're going through--just remember this story--and tell yourself I may feel 'broken' today--but I will heal and be whole again-TODAY I  need to gather up 'shards' of old things and OLD memories and dispose of them forever!   Tomorrow IS a new day-and will be better!

May your day be a day of blessings!
