REAL ENCOUNTER WITH A GHOST!
Below is a TRUE STORY of my first encounter with a "GHOST".
I DO believe in seeing the spirits of an entity from the past or recent persons that have crossed over. I have had one experience I wish to share about what I myself have seen many years ago. I and a friends 18 year old daughter took a ride to the store-and we cut through a long country road beside a plantation area. It had a lot of 'history' of being haunted in that area-from Civil War days. I had toured one the plantation homes a few years back-twice and didn't see anything; but did feel a sadness surrounding the area. I had also discovered an old ancient graveyard a few feet down this old road while riding one day-so the teen got excited about taking a peek for herself. I was hesitant at first-but she wasn't about to take no for an answer. I pulled up inside the wooded area-and she went "WOW, awesome!" as she got out and ran over to look at the markers. She was a 'goth' and thought this 'way cool'! There were exactly 12-all strangely dated from the early 1800s-but no names. We each walked around talking about the Civil War-and how difficult it had been to live in that era. After walking around-we got back into the car and she rattled off a ton of questions about the area and how she wondered if it could be haunted? I told her I had no idea-it was only hearsay from past rumors over time as far as I was concerned. The area we were in was near a huge plantation home though-and it was 'said' the people were very rich who'd built it. We'd only driven about 1 1/2 miles-still in the middle of secluded woods on the roadside-when suddenly about 100 feet ahead of us out jumps the most beautiful while stallion I'd ever laid eyes on leaping over the road! I remember slamming my brakes as I stared-and listened to the teen yelping "WHOA!!" We sat and watched it in midair crossing. It was a phenomenal site-as the horse appeared to have leapt straight from one side of the road and landed somewhere into the other side. But the rider was just as amazing to behold as the horse. It appeared to be a male dressed with professional riding apparel--tall black riding hat, strapped black boots gripping the stirrups, riding crop and all, definitely professional riding 'gear'; but the STYLE you rarely see in this day and age. I remember flashes of a red sash and black coattails-and even the appearance of the riders coattails flapping behind him as the horse leapt at such magnitude! The teen and I both were sitting there like two racoons in the dark staring at the scene. "WHO was that man!", the teen began bouncing up and down with excitement. "UUhhh I duuno, but we gonna see where he WENT to!" With those words I floored the car-racing ahead-and stopped where we spotted the rider. We both looked out her car window seeing NOTHING but such thick wooded trees, and tall brush, I KNEW here was NO WAY anyone could have landed INTO it, muchless have disappeared into thin air! It was dead silent in that spot. "Where'd he goooo?!" the teen looked at me and I stared back at her for a second before saying "I DUNNO-but I DO know we're getting the heck outta here NOW!" Goosebumps shot up my entire spine. With that said, I floored the car--and noticed there was not ONE house anywhere in sight for another 2 miles! Nada, nothing. The teen and I both sat in silence-until I hit the main road. "What WAS that-was it uhh, was it a GHOST"? she stared at me looking like a frightened kid. I too felt like one myself and replied back, "Umm ya know what, I DO believe we BOTH just saw the real deal-yes indeedie a GHOST!".
We rode in silence for many miles after that. If it hadn't been broad daylight-I could have found an explanation maybe. But there wasn't one. There still isn't. I don't go cruising down that road anymore either! But when I pass it I can picture that rider still-like it was 'yesterday'! I often wonder if he was a rider from the Plantation home built in the 1800s. Are Ghosts REAL? Are YOU a Believer??
