SUNDAY WORSHIP TERESA STYLE

SUNDAY WORSHIP

I have nothing against any religion.  I believe getting together with others is a very important part of connecting spiritually.  Any type of worship helps to bring meaning and focus into our spiritual purpose in life, and helps with life answers.  My problem is when a religion tells us it's wrong to be any other type of denomination.  I also have a few things that bother me when it comes to religions that I'm going to talk about in this lesson I am writing about.

Religion is based on set rules and is organized, and I have a few beliefs of my own on this one.  I have asked questions, participated in many different religions, and through it all, I have come up with one simple rule on God, because yes, I do believe some special entity put us here.  Even if we came from another planet so to speak, the first person was created to be able to do so.  Thus, I believe that if you don't find at least one purpose in a higher power of some sort, things could get lost in the purpose of life, and it would be wrong.

I have my own special beliefs and practicies based on the different religions, books, practices and experiences I have learned through the course of life, and in this article, I am going to share all of these with you.

These are my own opinions, and thoughts, so please don't take offense to anything I am sharing.

REPENTING FOR SINS:

Once upon a time, I went to a church, and was the only one that stayed sitting when people had to go repent for their sins.  I lived in a terrible neighborhood, and seen terrible things, and later when the pastor caught up with me, and asked me why I didn't ask for forgiveness, this is what I said:  "God can see through our hearts, and knows that sometimes I'm not sorry for what I have done until years down the road.  Yes, I'm a sinner, but at this moment, I don't actually feel so sorry for it that I'll quit doing these things.  I think God would think worst of me for doing what all those other people are doing, and ask for forgiveness, to leave and do it again."  I believe there is a time and a place where we sit down, out of the blue, and think, 'Wow, how could I do that to someone else?'  At that point, I believe god knows we are truly sorry, and at that point, I know I would never do that again.

YOU MUST GO TO THE TEMPLE TO WORSHIP GOD:

Why must we go to the temple to worship god, when the bible states our body is our temple?  If our body is our temple, and we must go to the temple to talk to God, then it must mean we talk to God through personal meditation.  Not by recited prayers said within the walls of a building.

YOU MUST DONATE TEN PERCENT OF YOUR MONEY

Did God mean give up ten percent of our money, or give up ten percent of our heart, or ten percent of our food, or did he really say a certain money percent?  Did he have things mathematically figured out when the bible was being written for the 20th century?  I don't know, but I question the fact that he did.

TAROT READERS/PSYCHICS WILL GO TO HELL

Yeah, okay, if I sit there and say lies to make money, I think I would go to hell, but if I were to lead people through guidance with the gift that he gave me, then how could it be wrong?  After all, God has predicted the future in the bible, and does that mean he's really not all that special?  I don't think so....he made us in his image right?  Then that means he can use this gift as well, and has passed it on to people who are meant to share it with others.  I don't think there is anything wrong with that.

SUMMARY

  1. Don't say you're sorry if you're not sorry.
  2. Talking to God is a spiritual process done from within, so no, I don't think you have to go to church to be considered worthy of heaven.
  3. I think God just wants us to help others, but not to the point we can't survive or live, and no, I don't think god meant a percent of the money, because after all, I don't think math existed back then.  Not in the sense we do it at least.
  4. Why would it be considered wrong to share a gift given from God that God himself has used?  It's not.

# re: SUNDAY WORSHIP TERESA STYLE

I agree. and you are not alone.  I also sat in church, led the youth group, and sang in the choir.  I learned from the church, yet I also spoke franly with my pastor.  He smiled, looked into my eyes and said "You are filled with spirit, visit us again when ever you wish".  Church is wonderful for those that need to have reinforcement to practice their faith.  Some people do not require the building and the "proof" of their faith.

Just my opinion,

When I was growing up, my mother always said, "You can go to whatever church you want, but don't try to convert me."  LOL  So I did.  I went to any church I wanted, and stayed for at least a year with every church, and a couple of churches much longer.  I found that I really enjoyed the company, but what the different 'organizations' set up with their teachings had something I didn't like about every one of them.  I didn't like the Catholics said you couldn't have birth control, but liked the beauty of their building, and hated the boring sounds the priests made.  I went to Lutheran for a long time, because it had good rules being taught, was more personable, and did 'cool' things.  lol  I was a teacher for the Week long deal the church promoted, was in choir and worked in the church office there.  I have went to a pentacostal, Evangelical, Assembly Of Music, Baptist and a few times went with friends to other ones.

I do have controversies with the Bible, and until I have answers, it's hard for me now to look at these places as anything more than almost government.  I then went on and tried out the pagan worship, which I liked many things taught there, but also disagreed with different idols, and yet, even as a Christian, I've had a tendency to believe people all have the ability to do those things the Christian movement says is bad.  I guess I feel God wouldn't of created us with them if they were bad.

So in the end, I took some advice from the Bible, which I question so darn much.  If your body is your temple, and you go to the temple to talk to God, then it's just a matter of a personal nature, not requiring the governmental approach with churches.  **wink**

So I am my own religion.  lol
