I am the parent of an Indigo child and if you aren't familiar with that phrase it means she is very gifted.  I have spent years fighting a system that insists she is ADD and wanted me to medicate this very bright child.

I didn't know she was Indigo until I began to discover my own gifts; let's face it, if you don't recognize something in yourself or acknowledge it, then you have a hard time seeing it in your child.  All I knew was that I was not going to medicate my child with medication that had little long term study.  I was worried about it effecting her intelligence.  At the age of 6 she had an IQ of 114 and that was with attention issues.  Is she a genius, no and thank goodness because I doubt I could keep up with her but she is very, very bright and very quick to pick up on things other than reading.  I suspected she was dyslexic as did the school but the tests didn't really show that; still my daughter was confusing simple things.  While doing some reading I discovered this may be less of a learning disablity and more of an issue with how her eyes do work.  I will post more on this later as I am still researching and trying to find a doctor who offers and considers this kind of testing.

Anyway, I digress:  If you have a child that appears to be ADD read the book The Indigo Children  by Lee Carroll.  Doreen Virtue has a book that also covers Crystal and Rainbow Children.  I promise you that it is worth your time to at least explore these other avenues.

Please, please, please don't just accept what the school decides is wrong with your child.  Remember schools get funding for children with special needs and often they don't want to deal with a child that questions anything so their first response is they must be ADD/ADHD or some other problem.  Of course see your family doctor and see if there is a physical problem but also explore other options because if you look at the side effects of some of these medications you will likely be horrified.  I need to do some checking on posting outside links here but for now if you want some links Indigo/Crystal/Rainbow children, please don't hestistate to email me.  I also think I am going to set up a listing for this very topic.  Please keep in mind my area of knowledge is more on the Indigo but I have a neice that is most obviously a Crystal Child as well so I have witnessed and experienced both children.  Crystal children are MUCH easier but they often don't talk nearly as early as other children.  Rainbow children are just starting to come in and they are very few and far between right now.

In a world that is full of anger, pain and turmoil I believe we have a duty to encourage our children to see their Angels and experience the love that these very gifted children bring into this world with them.  My next blog I will post some of the indicators of and Indigo child.
