Finding A New Job Is Liberating
Due to the overwhelming Economic problems the world is facing, many people
are in the market for a new job. Companies are being forced to downsize to remain
in business. Many callers have asked about where to look for a new job, when
they will find one and what type of work it will be.
While being laid off is shocking and can create anxiety about paying bills,
it can also be one of the most liberating experiences in your life. For many
people, their careers are the product of family values, security, education
and necessity. Countless people go to work and feel numb, lifeless and bored.
Work takes up 2/3 of our time as adults. We enter the workforce in our early
twenties and once our career is chosen, we don't stop to question whether it
is truly a work of passion.
There is great opportunity in our lives with our world economy shrinking. Everything
we believed about security and stability is now being tested. The high paying
job with upward potential is quickly becoming a thing of the past. Our thoughts
are now turning to having a job just to make ends meet.
How is this a great opportunity you ask? When was the last time you stopped
and asked yourself what makes you happy? Are you aware of your unique talents
and expressions of ideas
Twelve years ago I was working as Director of Marketing/Business Development
for a company located in Downtown San Diego. I had a good salary, a nice office
and loved the city. Without notice the company was shut down. Suddenly I found
myself in the position of having to make major decisions about work. Once my
daily routine was broken I was forced to look at my own happiness. As I was
working my way up the corporate ladder, I had stopped a few of the things that
truly made me happy. I was no longer riding horses, training horses or helping
people. I decided at that moment, I was going to make some major changes. I
was living on my boat and decided to sell it. I found a 10 acre Horse Boarding
and Training facility. I used the equity in my boat to start my own businesses.
Although a complete break from my previous career, I was finally happy and
doing what I loved. I realized that in my early twenties while I was still riding
and showing horses, people kept telling me I needed a "real" job. I allowed
others beliefs decide the course of my life. As scary as it was to make the
shift, it certainly changed the course of my life for the better. To this day,
I work for myself and do what makes me the most fulfilled on a daily basis.
Now is the perfect time to question whether your job is making you happy. Ask
yourself some important questions:
1. If I could do anything I wanted for work, what would it be?
2. I am happiest when I am engaged in what activity?
3. Am I using all of my natural gifts and talents?
4. What dreams have I laid aside in the pursuit of financial security?
5. By combining my experience, talents and passions, what kind of job can I
create?
Following your passion can be scary and sometimes requires a sacrifice. You
may have to downsize your home, car or excess purchases. Is it really a sacrifice
if you are waking up, doing what you love daily and getting paid for it?
Stay positive! Know that there is enough for all of us in this endless and
vast Universe. Tap into the powerful, creative energies of the Universe. If
you need help finding your passion and breaking free from fear, call me and
I'll guide you along your path.
