Retrograde Schmetrograde!
Thank God It’s Almost Over!!!
As a Rising Sign Gemini, Mercury Retrogrades affect me dramatically each and every time they roll around. As Mercury rules my first house and is trine to my ninth house placement, it always hit me hard and heavy on an extremely personal level. This one was one of the worst.
As you well know, I got married on the 9th of June, prior to this retrograde cycle beginning. Well, shortly after it began I got hit and hit hard.
On the 16th of June, one day into the cycle, the transmission went in my car. As it is an older used vehicle I decided that rather than throwing bad money after good, I would just go ahead and purchase a late model used vehicle. Well, here I am on the 7th of July and STILL no vehicle!!!
Why not?
Mercury retrograde, that’s why not.
My husband works highway construction, and here in the Northeastern part of the U.S. that means heavy hours during the summer, six or seven days a week, so he CAN’T take me shopping for a vehicle, the car lots are closed. My son Justin works with him for his summer job, so he CAN’T take me shopping for a vehicle, the car lots are closed.
We live in a rural area, no public transportation to the nearest city, so I CAN’T get a taxi or a bus to a car lot.
Ok, so that’s problem number one.
Ok, so now, problem number two, a direct spin-off of problem number one. My husband’s sixtieth birthday was June 28th, (gotta love a Cancer Man), thought I would HAVE A VEHICLE by then to plan a surprise party and get the cake and gifts……NO!!!
So, his birthday was a flop, and I feel bad, I didn’t even order anything over the internet for him because I THOUGHT I WOULD HAVE A CAR BY THEN!!!
Oh, it gets worse.
The Fourth of July holiday comes, and Keen is my full time job, as you well know.
The Keen system offers a feature to advisors called “Express Pay” that allows for a direct deposit to be issued each business day from the advisor Keen account to their personal bank account. (The only other payment options are monthly, and I can't afford to go a full month between pay periods.) The lag time between deposits is generally 3-5 business days, dependent on banking schedules, etc. I have been receiving my earnings in this manner, to the same bank account, for the six years I have been on Keen.
Sooo………..
On the Fifth of July I notice that my earnings aren’t moving. (I thought it may have been because of the holiday.)
I call Keen.
They check my account.
They are confused too.
Further follow-up on the account leads us to find that MY BANK rejected my direct deposits due to a failure of my Routing Number OR my Account Number. The notice does not say which.
I call my bank.
I get caught in “Circular Reference Hell” on their damn automated phone system for 45 minutes. All I want is to talk to a damn HUMAN BEING!!!! Finally, I find away to jump the system to get a live person.
Well, now this is a fine pickle…
When I opened this bank account back in 1995 it was owned by a Bank by the name of FLEET. The bank changed hands back in 2004, it was bought out by Bank of America, (there may have actually been a different name before Fleet bought it but my memory fails me), so anyhow, for the past three years my direct deposits have flowed errorlessly from Keen to my Bank of America account and NOW Bank of America kicks it back because I am still using the routing numbers and account numbers from FLEET!!!
I have MULTIPLE Direct Deposits from different enterprises all over the internet flowing, and NOW this happens!!!
No big deal you say? Just update your information??? Right.
So I go in and update my information on Keen and guess what?
It takes TEN BUSINESS DAYS for my information to be verified, during which time my earnings just sit, they earn no interest, they just lay stagnant in my Keen account. Ok, so I’ll get my money, BUT, With the lag time that happens in the transfer process this means that the EARLIEST I can expect to see the next deposit into my bank account where I can access my funds to pay bills, buy food and BUY A CAR is JULY 24TH!!! And that is if EVERYTHING goes smoothly and according to schedule.
The bank never notified me to change my routing number. Keen never notified me that my Direct Deposits were kicked back. MERCURY RETROGRADE IN ACTION!!!!
The Shadow Period for Mercury Retrograde, curiously enough, ends on JULY 24th!!
Coincidence?
I think not.
Will I survive?
Yes, I’ve had worse scenarios.
Am I worried and inconvenienced?
Absolutely.
