You're In The Army Now!

Well, as some of you may remember from a previous blog, Tough Love In the Garden of Eden, I had a difficult parenting situation with my son, Zachary.

I put in place and strictly enforced some VERY EXTENSIVE Tough Love measures.

This was one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do as a parent.

Zachary, I am proud to say, in response to these Tough Love measures, has pulled himself together, and today announced that he has joined the UNITED STATES ARMY!!!

Being from a military family, I am proud and excited for him, although concerned for his safety as any mother would be.

Please join me in offering prayers of thanks that Zachary is finding his path and prayers for his continuous protection once he embarks on this journey from boyhood to manhood.

Zachary just turned twenty years old.  He made this choice entirely on his own, and it is an excellent choice after an extended series of poor judgment calls over the past few years.

I am very proud of him and feel strongly that this will be the best path for him at the present time.

He will not leave for basic training for at least six weeks, we don't have all of the "details" yet, but he is excited and optimistic about his chance for a fresh start and an independent existence in service to his country.
