We Remember!!!
September 11, 2001. It started out as any other normal day. I sent the older kids off to school; dropped the youngest one off at daycare; walked across the parking lot to the office I was using in a local hospital. I tried calling my staff up in NYC to see where they were on some projects because the mid September audit deadline was looming. Where could they be, I wondered...probably down at Nate's Hotdogs getting ones of those hot-dog pretzels I loved. When I was up there, we'd all get them; it was as if those pretzel dogs would open the lines of communication as soon as the mustard was being passed. We'd talk about everything and anything ...nothing was off limits. Oh well, they'll call soon, I thought and went about my early morning routine.
I was walking past the TV in the lobby when I noticed 4 doctors standing in front of it. Curious as to why they would stop in the middle of their busy day, I stood beside them and watched in horror as a plane flew right into the second tower of the World Trade Center. I covered my mouth in disbelief; Chills ran up and down my spine. I tried calling one of my employees; but got no answer; the lines were busy. I called the DC office, but couldn't get through there either. I kept thinking, "where are they?" and "why haven't they called me to let me know what's going on?"
By the time late afternoon came, I had lost quite a few co-workers. The Country had lost much more.
I'm treating tomorrow as any other Patriotic Holiday....I will (as we always do) fly our flag proudly and recall the supreme sacrifice that was made by everyone who has allowed me to be free.
My Prayer for the families who lost their loved ones is the same as it's always been: Lord, give them all the strength and courage to make each day count. Wrap Your Loving arms around them; guide, comfort, and protect them till You bring them back together again. For those who perished, may they rest in peace, knowing You were and are still with them. For the Fire and Police Personnel who lost their lives, may their families know in their hearts what heroes they are and carry on knowing You have brought them Home for rest. For the soldiers fighting; PLEASE bring them all home safe. For those who have died, take them Home to You and for those who have been injured, show them Your Mercy. In Jesus' name we pray...Amen.
This has been floating around for some time, but never more appropriate..........
Prayer for our soldiers
"Lord, hold our troops in your loving hands. Protect them as they protect us Bless them and their families for the selfless acts they perform for us in our time of need. Amen."
Of all the gifts you could give a Marine, Soldier, Sailor, Airman, & others deployed in harm's way, prayer is the very best one.
God Bless the USA!!!!
