A Christmas Miracle

While researching an inspirational Christmas story to report in my blog, I happened across A Christmas Miracle.  It was inspiring and special in that before I could finish reading it, a Christmas wish came true for me.  Read it and just by reading it ... it will impart a blessing into your life as well.  He was known for saying ... his greatest works would begin ... after his death.

A Christmas Miracle -- Christmas 2000

I believe in Christmas miracles.  Some things hold a blessing and it can be a ring, a piece of wood or any item.  One Christmas, a Christmas angel came to visit.  Do you believe in miracles?

Cancer is a very hard thing to deal with especially around Christmas time when everyone is looking to try to enjoy themselves.  Friends and family had been offering their healing advice to try to manage the painful cancer.

My husband was trying to stay in a positive state of mind but I knew he was in pain.  The cancer in the spinal column had deteriorated.  Cancer patients all over America were suffering a great deal and I knew he was one of the lucky ones at least he knew he had support of friends and family and the he was loved.  

You tend to sense when someone is not feeling well.  You just feel it in the air.  You can sense it in their movement and how they look at you.  Thinking of all the people suffering with cancer around Christmas was heart breaking.  The little children with cancer gathering around their Christmas tree, praying for a miracle of healing so they could just focus on being kids again.

Friends and family members called with well wishes and encouragement not to give up and not to get disillusioned.  Stay committed to your faith and keep believing, my friends encouraged me.  It is possible this year, could be your Christmas miracle.

The Saint Padre Pio (Referenced in part Catholic.org/saints/saint.php?saint_id=311)

Padre Pio was born in the late 1800's and was the only 20 century person that had received the stigmata, the wounds that Christ had experience on the cross.  He lived until the 1960's. Padre Pio was known for his compassion and healing works. He also was known to bi-locate (be in two places at once).  This is also something that Christ was rumored to have done, be in two different places at the same time.  This is something that we can all live up to doing.  It is said that during the second world war, the air force was going to accidentally bomb an area that was occupied by allies. The fighter pilots reported seeing Padre Pio appearing in the air, in front of the plane, motioning for them to go back.  They were so scared that they did go back and the disaster was averted!

At the time of Padro Pio's passing, items were collected from him by the people because he was so loved and respected.  It was rumored that healings and miralces had occurred around items owned by or touched by Padro Pio.  One of the items was that of a pair of gloves that Padre Pio wore when he suffered the stigmata wounds and blood would appear on his hands.

It was rumored that the priest that used to be a custodian of Padre Pio in Italy returned to his parish in Brooklyn, New York, he was given two of the gloves that Padre Pio had worn to keep the blood from the Stigmata wounds from dripping on the floor. These gloves were considered a sacred object and reported to have healing properties. There were multiple stories of how the gloves had healed the parishioners of his Brooklyn church. One thing that helps support this claim is the uncanny and beautiful rose scent that emanates from the glove. It grows stronger and weaker, yet is always present.  Often angels and seeing angels have been associated with sweet smells.  Sightings and visions of Mother Mary also associated with the sweet smell of roses.

St. Padre Pio often would say that his greatest works would begin after his death.  He promised to continue to help the sick and touch the lives of others.  How beautiful is that. 

It was rumored that the Priest kept one glove for himself and gave one to his sister. The sister felt that it really should be available for all to benefit from.  Feeling compassion for the suffering of the people, she figured out a way to allow the people of the parish to borrow and use the blessed glove. 

The glove shares a box with a sheet that came from Padre Pio’s bed also rumored to be blessed, a book that people wrote to Padre Pio in and one of those famous double image pictures of Padre Pio that changes as you tilt the picture from side to side! It was a collector box of miraculous memories of a great saint. 

Whoever needed a blessing or a miracle would be welcome to come and borrow the items and benefit from their healing properties.  As you can imagine many people wanted to touch or use the blessed items each and everyone of them praying for a miracle.  There was a waiting list created and now it had come to my attention that me and my husband suffering with cancer, our names had come up on the list ... on Christmas Eve.

He would only be able to touch it or hold it for a short time before it was to be sent on to someone else who needed it's blessings and healing properties.

I could see the light of hope lit in my loving husband's eyes.  It would indeed be a Christmas miracle if he was healed of cancern.  He laid on the sofa, tired as usual around this time of the day.  Yet, there was something different in his pose today ... he lay smiling, hoping that the loving blessing of the saint would fill our home and our lives with hope, healing, love and the power to overcome any and all obstacles.  They soon arrived with the glove.

A loving kind stranger arrived, covered in snow and smiling.  I felt a bit ashamed of myself asking them to come out in this terrible weather but some happy that they came.  He gently and carefully brought out the glove. It was  simple glove.  I felt something leap in my heart.  Hope?  I was anxious to find out what we should do next.  I wish we could have kept a small piece of it, perhaps a thread of it, but if everyone took a thread, there would be no glove left at all for the people to use.

I have never smelled such a lovely aroma of roses.  It was like nothing in this world.  Anyone that smelled this rose scent could tell you that it’s like no other rose smell you had ever smelled. You couldn’t recreate it even with the best of oils or perfume.  It was light and lovely and not overwhelming.  The sheet from his bed also had that lovely scent. The sheet was in a little plastic bag, but the glove had a cross sown to it.

As my partner grabbed hold of the healing glove, you could just sense a deep calm coming over him.  He laid back on the sofa and closed his eyes as the healing power and the lovely aroma of the glove filled our home with a bonding and healing love.  My partner expressed how he felt when he held on to the glove, he said the glove made him feel special, like he was in the presence of angels.  He said his heart felt engorged with love so much so it felt like his heart might burst out of his chest. 

As our new friend told us about the glove’s story and how he ended up with it, he sat and stroked the sacred glove as it lay in his right hand. He had told of how Padre Pio was able to bring his compassion and insight into the confessional and would help people to know what it is that they really want to release and what they should really be praying for.

I felt my own heart swell with desire and leaned in closer to my husband and stroked and touched the glove.  The more I touched it, the more I wanted a blessing of my on.  I was not suffering with cancer but I was suffering from a broken heart.  My husband handed me the glove and I could immediately feel the energy coming from the center of it. I felt calm and at peace. I knew this was real. I handed it back to my husband, feeling satisfied. 

The lovely intense rose scent was growing in the room as my husband opened up and told of his fears and his hopes and dreams.  It seemed a healing experience for him just to be able to talk about his fears and desiring to preserve his family.   The visit from a Christmas angel had brought a touch of love and warmth into our home that was beyond words to express them.

The visit from this kind loving stranger was accompanied by a pervading sense of peace and love.

Together we shared stories, sharing feelings, hot tea and fresh baked cookies as if we were old friends. An hour passed and then two, we did not want the evening to end ... it was like letting go of a good friend, we did not want to part.  Unfortunately the discussion of the next person on the list came up and they only had so much time to deliver the glove to as many people as possible before returning it. 

My husband told me that as he went to bed, he could still feel the sensation of holding the glove in his hand and he could still smell the unusual and lovely sent of roses.  I leaned back and laid on my husband and suddenly I could smell the lovely scent of roses emanating from him.  It was soothing.  It calmed my nerves and made my headache go away and it rested me to my soul, making me want to sleep.

I awoke early in the morning and I just started to weep.  I could smell the lovely scent of roses and I could feel my heart healing.  I could feel my spirit healing me from the inside out.

I felt a deeper bond and connection between me and my husband.  We could have gone to our families to partake of the feast but my husband was not feeling well and I wasn't feeling well.  We were right where God intended us to be.  Safe, happy and healing in our own home.  We spoke of our Chrimstas miracle and felt joyous in sharing something so beautiful and special together. 

Sometimes angels may not come with the full cover of God.  Sometimes angels come covered in snow, wearing coats and scarves.

I smell heavenly roses.

 

 

Have faith and hope, because there is something positive and new on the horizon that you can't yet see.
