NY Giants vs New England Patriots
Super Bowl XLII (42)
It has been a great year for football. However, I must congratulate both the New York Giants and the New England Patriots for getting to this point ... the Super Bowl XLII (42). These are teams that are much loved and I know it raises your blood pressure to think ... who will win this Super Bowl? Everyone seems to have a favorite! So, who do you think will win and why? Some believe the Patriots are favored to win but don't tell that to NY Giants die hard fans! I normally thought that the NFC teams were better than the AFC teams but they have actually won equal amounts of times, NFC 30 vs AFC 29.
However, let's not let passion get in the way of judgment. Let's look at a few facts of both teams and let's weigh the evidence accordingly, objectively. The facts will speak for themselves.
(NFC) New York Giants Champions

They are currently the National Football Conference Champions, after winning the 2007 NFC Championship Game.
The Giants have won a total of six NFL titles—four in the pre Super Bowl era (1927, 1934, 1938, 1956) and two since the advent of the Super Bowl (Super Bowls XXI and XXV). During their history the Giants have featured 15 Hall of Fame players, including NFL Most Valuable Player (MVP) award winners Mel Hein, Frank Gifford, Charlie Conerly, Y. A. Title, and Lawrence Taylor.

To distinguish itself from the professional baseball team of the same name, the football team was referred to as the New York Football Giants. Although the baseball team moved to San Francisco in 1957, the football team continues to use "New York Football Giants" as its legal corporate name. The team has also gained several nicknames, including "Big Blue", the "G-men", the "Big Blue Wrecking Crew" and the "Jints", a name seen frequently in the New York Post, originating from the baseball team when they were based in New York.

By the 2007 season, many sports writers were starting to question whether or not Eli would ever live up to the expectations of someone selected with the first overall pick in a draft .
The Giants uniforms: The most emotionally intense color, red stimulates a faster heartbeat and breathing. It is also the color of love. Red clothing gets noticed and makes the wearer appear heavier. Since it is an extreme color, red clothing might not help people in negotiations or confrontations. Red cars are popular targets for thieves. In decorating, red is usually used as an accent. Decorators say that red furniture should be perfect since it will attract attention.

The most romantic color, pink, is more tranquilizing. Sports teams sometimes paint the locker rooms used by opposing teams bright pink so their opponents will lose energy.

The criticism of Manning intensified as the Giants lost the first two games of the regular season, but then they recovered with 6 consecutive wins and and finished the year with a 10-6 record, despite the loss of some key offensive players to injury, such as running back Derrick Ward (the team's second leading rusher) and four-time pro bowl tight end Jeremy Shockey. Then Manning silenced some of his critics by leading the Giants to three playoff wins on the road without throwing a single interception. Their three playoff wins gave them an NFL record of 10 consecutive wins on the road. Good games, good year.

AFC Champions: New England Patriots
The Patriots, competing in their fourth Super Bowl since the 2001 season, were already billed as one of the greatest teams in NFL history. They compiled a perfect 16-0 record (the first team to go undefeated since the NFL expanded the regular season to 16 games in 1978), and set NFL records with 589 points scored (an average of 36.8 points per game), and a net differential of +315 points (they gave up 274 points, fourth best in the league). That's amazing, you can't argue with those numbers. They either made a deal with the devil or they have the favor of God on them!

The team was once again led by quarterback Tom Brady who won his first NFL MVP award, throwing for a career high 4,806 yards and an NFL record 50 touchdowns (22 more than his previous best season), and just eight interceptions. His passer rating of 117.2 was the second-highest season rating in NFL history. One often-cited reason for Brady's improved numbers was the acquisition of receivers Randy Moss and Wes Welker. The Patriots acquired Moss, a nine-year veteran, from the Oakland Raiders for a fourth-round pick in the 2007 NFL Draft after Moss had, statistically, the worst year of his career (42 receptions for 553 yards and 3 touchdowns). With the Patriots, though, Moss caught 98 receptions for 1,493 yards and an NFL record 23 touchdowns, and was selected a first-team All Pro. The Patriots also gave the Miami Dolphins second- and seventh-round picks for Welker; Welker tied for the league lead in receptions and was named a second-team All Pro. Welker and Moss both earned votes for Offensive Player of the Year. Other major contributors to the Patriots' passing game included Donté Stallworth, who added 697 yards and 3 touchdowns, and tight end Benjamin Watson, whose 36 receptions totaled 389 yards and 6 touchdowns.

The Patriots' success was not without controversy. The Patriots were accused of videotaping opponents' defensive signals in the first week of the season against the New York Jets in what was dubbed "Spygate". Spoiled sports? The episode cost head coach Bill Belichick $500,000, while the team was docked $250,000 and their first-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft. Also, some opponents accused the Patriots of running up the score when the game was clearly in hand.

All emotions aside, the New England Patriots have had an outstanding year. A perfect score of 16-0, sixteen wins and zero losses. This team seems to be doing everything right. They even changed the colors of their uniforms that show they are thinking intelligently. The color of the sky and the ocean, blue is one of the most popular colors. It causes the opposite reaction as red. Peaceful, tranquil blue causes the body to produce calming chemicals, so it is often used in bedrooms. Fashion consultants recommend wearing blue to job interviews because it symbolizes loyalty. People are more productive in blue rooms. Studies show weightlifters are able to handle heavier weights in blue gyms.

I am being impartial. Just the facts, mam, just the facts! Both teams are phenomenal to have reached this pentacle of success and I must congratulate both teams. However, in all fairness, I must say, the New England Patriots have had a phenomenal year!
Come Super Bowl Sunday, when the dusk clears and the champions are left standing, you will hear crowds screaming across America for their favorite team and history will once again write down the phenomenal feats of a Super Bowl Champion.
