You Awake Having Stiff and Sore Muscles! Rigamortis? Your Not Dead!

You wake up in the morning and you feel stiff and sore.  You stretch and hear your bones pop.  You feel like your going through rigamortis but your not dead!  You woke up this morning and—ouch! Suddenly, muscles ache.  Just  washing your hair feels like torture and your legs ache.   Your neck hurts, your shoulder hurts, your back hurts, your leg hurts.  You didn't even exercise or do anything physically challenging!

Did you know ... as many as 1 in 3 adults in the United States currently suffers from chronic joint symptoms
or arthritis. Could you be one of them?

If you feel pain and stiffness in your body or have trouble moving around, you could have arthritis. Most kinds of arthritis cause pain and swelling in your joints. Joints are places where two bones meet, such as your elbow or knee. Over time, a swollen joint can become severely damaged. Some kinds of arthritis can also cause problems in your organs, such as your eyes or skin.

According to the CDC, arthritis causes symptoms and problems in nearly 70 million Americans, or about one in every three adults. As the population ages, develops more obesity, diabetes, and joint injuries, this number is expected to rise, perhaps even double by 2020.

Arthritis is by far the number one cause of pain and disability in Americans. Fortunately, we know more about treatment and prevention than ever before. The past 10 years have provided us with tremendous breakthroughs in the diagnosis and treatment of many of the forms of arthritis.

A successful technique for treating arthritis was the raw vegetable diet described by Holbrook in Europe during the forties [Holbrook].   Eppinger hinted that the success of this diet might have been due to its high potassium content [Eppinger].

It's no wonder why Americans are nutritionally deficient.  We live in a fast food jungle.  We don't get enough vitamins and minerals and we don't eat right.  We have to change that and regain our health!

Trying to change your eating habit after eating a bad diet for so long is not an easy thing to do.  However, as they say, when it hurts bad enough ... you will change!  Trying to change a little at a time is a good way to begin ... slowly adding more and more raw vegetables into your diets until your eating more raw vegetables than cooked or processed foods.

Arthritis isn’t just 1 disease; it’s a complex disorder that comprises more than 100 different types of conditions and can affect people at any stage of life. Two of the most common forms are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.

These 2 forms have very different causes, risk factors, and effects on the body, yet they often share a common symptom—persistent joint pain.  Americans are screaming, OUCH!  Oh, those aching joints! The joint pain of arthritis can appear as hip pain, knee pain, hand pain, or wrist pain, as well as joint pain in other areas of the body and muscle pains. If you have joint pain, stiffness and/or swelling for more than 2 weeks, you could have arthritis.

Rheumatoid arthritis affects three times more women than men. Though it can develop at any age, disease onset usually occurs between the ages of 30 and 50 years old and Osteoarthritis occurs more frequently in males before age 45. After age 55, the disease occurs more frequently in females.

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory type of arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is also classified as an autoimmune disease (immune cells attack the body's own healthy tissues). The joints are affected by rheumatoid arthritis, but there can be other effects (i.e. organs) as well. Early diagnosis of rheumatoid arthritis and early, aggressive treatment can help prevent joint damage and deformity.

Osteoarthritis, also referred to as degenerative joint disease, DJD, or wear-and-tear arthritis, is the most common form of arthritis and is caused by the breakdown of cartilage in one or more joints. When there is cartilage loss, a joint can become bone-on-bone, which is very painful. OUCH! Osteoarthritis predominantly affects the joints, unlike other types of arthritis.

Growing up as a child, I felt I had a very adult conversation with my mother at about the age of seven.  I made a special dinner request.  I told her that I appreciated her effort as a cook but that I liked eating my vegetables raw and would appreciate it if she would set aside a serving of vegetables for me to eat raw at dinner time.  She didn't say anything.  I thought we understood each other.  She looked at me like I was strange.  Lo and behold, at dinner, everything was cooked and my mother did not even acknowledge me or my special request!  No one believes you know what your talking about when your a kid.  Like other prisoners of circumstance, I began stealing vegetables from the refrigerator and eating them raw when I could!

Who wouldn't agree that eating vegetables is good for your health. Jaggavarapu Rama Reddy has a lot to say on this subject!   He would like you to eat raw vegetables and shun eating cooked ones.  It would be hard to disagree with him.

He has been on a raw vegetable diet for over a decade and is now a perfect picture of good health. What! eating raw vegetables and fruits can reverse and erase arthritis!?! He says, yes, it can!

He got rid of his arthritis problem, his eyesight has become perfect again and his hair fall out has stopped. And yes, there is a spring in his step.

He does not keep the health formula a secret. "Eat raw vegetables. If you don't like the taste, grind them into a paste and eat them with a couple of pulkas. Supplement the vegetable diet with lots of fruits and soaked pulses or wheat. You will be cured of all ailments," he would tell you passionately.

He believed that his intake of vitamins and minerals was not insufficient and began experimenting with the food he was eating. As time passed by, he became so obsessed with his diet regimen that he never strayed from it. In the process, he regained his health and became a strong voice of a raw, vegetarian diet. In addition to vegetables and fruits, he eats soaked wheat, sprouts and groundnut. A great combination for a healthy life!

You can make a comparison between a meal of raw vegetables, and a meal of the same types of vegetables cooked. The raw vegetables leave you feeling light, fresh and alert, whereas the same vegetables cooked will make you feel lethargic and sluggish. It is common experience, how one feels lazy, dull and sluggish for hours after a big meal, such as Thanksgiving dinner. But meals of raw food don't produce such lethargy and dullness. Vegetarians don't believe in killing for food, but too often they kill their food by cooking it!

Three simple steps to keep fruit and vegetables a healthy, enjoyable food choice:
Clean It Clean hands, work surfaces and utensils. Clean fruit and vegetables under cold running water.
Chill It Refrigerate perishable fruit and vegetables, especially cut fruit such as melons.
Separate It Keep fruit and vegetables separate from raw meats and poultry to prevent cross contamination. Remember, fruit and vegetables eaten raw do not have a cooking process to destroy harmful bacteria that may have been transferred.

Try it for yourself and see if it makes you feel better.  After all, your the best testament to your health more than anyone else.  So, here's to your good health!  Enjoy some raw vegetables, fruits and even juicing if you so desire!  It may cure what ails you.
