Rune of the day: Laguz (reversed)
Hi folks!
First, I want to apologize for not having the rune of the day up over the past few days. It got a little crazy around here and I completely forgot about doing so. Also, a quick question to anyone else who pulls a card for the day or does a similar thing to what I'm doing here: Do certain cards or signs present themselves more then others? It seems like there might be the beginning of a theme here to me, but it could just be me.
We are
revisiting the rune Laguz, but this time in a different orientation. Laguz can be equated to the following tarot cards:
- The Moon
- The Star
- Temperance
- The Ace of Cups
Most frequently, Laguz suggest to me Temperance. Today, however, it suggests the Star reversed. The Star, frequently a card of hope and inspiration, is almost always a positive card no matter it's orientation. Today, Laguz is expressing a positive note here akin to the Star, though it does indicate a blockage in the flow of inspiration and communication.
Laguz is the rune of water and usually indicates flowing water. When water becomes stagnant or the flow is inhibited, it is frequently viewed as a bad thing. This, however, is not always the case. While the water is not moving, it can be absorbed into the parched earth and bring nourishment. Flooding that may result from inhibited flow can bring valueable nutrients into the surrounding soil, restoring it to health and fertility. Water flow can be inhibited to provide the mill's race which turns the water-wheel and harness some of the power of water for innovative use.
Standing water provides breeding ground for far more then mosquitos (which are typically irritating and
at times carriers of dangerous diseases around the world) but also preservation of a vital and necessary part of the ecosystem (for example, those mosquitos in the artic pollinate a certian flower in the absence of bees). Here, we must work to keep the stagnation and inhibition of the flow of power, communication, and inspiration in perspective.
Good things can come from being forced to wait. Don't try to rush today, because it is a gift. The past is lost to us and the future is unwritten. There's a reason why
right now is called the
present.
Blessings! I hope you all have a wonderful day!
