Wow, what a week!
Hi Folks!
I realize that it's been almost a week since I last updated here. Life has made things rather challenging and I'm beginning to think that those 'perfect mothers' must have a screw loose or something, because you'd have to be crazy to be able to keep up with everything and never lose your cool. I honestly can't see how any sane person could do it and not start to get a bit frazzled (to say the least).
That new tooth still hasn't broken thru but my little boy just seems to be getting more stubborn and cranky as the days go by. I think he's about done with bottles, even if he isn't really keen on the idea of using the sippy cup yet. He keeps throwing them rather then drinking from them at meal times. I'm also finding that he's becoming more interested in grabbing at his food. He doesn't want to grab and do things with the spoon (unless it has nothing on it) but the food in the bowl... now that's interesting. I'm absolutely delighted to say that he's been mastering how to take steps.
Just yesterday, he creeped along the edge of his playpen to scream at me for putting him down. On one hand, I could have dealt with out the screaming, as I had a pounding headache at the time, but if it was what it too to motivate him, then let's let him get angry! He's also becoming interested in our neighbors. Since we moved back in June, we now have two little kids next door for neighbors and my son thinks they're just absolutely fabulous. We're beginning to get regular playtime scheduled and I think that'll make the lives of everybody a little easier. No little people sneaking up to the backdoor to try and see if the baby is playing on the floor and such.
My husband has been having a devil of a time with the recent car troubles. Between him and his boss (who used to be a mechanic at a dealership around here), it's been determined that our old beat-up clunker is probably going to cost more to repair this time then it was to buy it a few years ago. As a result, we're going to be getting a new car. This is a novel experience for both of us. He's been driving used cars from the dealership for years now, with the most recent one being the only exception. I've been driving used cars from private individuals for years, often including some amount of repair required to keep them road worthy. He's confident that this is going to go well but I am worried that it's not.
After all, a baby has many talents. Staining fabric just happens to be one of them. I wonder if we can get the upholstery of this car treated with something to make it stain-resistant or if that's going to cost extra. I honestly don't know, but if we can do that it may be a good idea. If any of you folks out there are parents of young children, please be so kind as to let me know what works to keep your car from getting destroyed by the child. I would *really* appreciate ideas!
I greatly appreciate the patience that you folks have shown with my absence. Moving and some of the chaos that followed in it's wake regarding our new home made it very difficult for me to get time free to even check my e-mail. Now, however, things are settling down and I can resume readings. I will be setting up a new schedule in the weeks to come, as changes to my son's nap schedule are going to have a bit of an impact on how my schedule goes.
I hope that all of you are having a wonderful day and that tomorrow will go just as well if not even better!
