Finding the Power Within
Many times the calls I receive are
not so much about getting a prediction as they are about getting validation on
something the caller feels inside. I think we all need a little validation now
and then. So why is it so challenging to listen to the still small voice in our
head? I wrote a blog a while back called
"Paying Attention to the Signs" and in the blog I discussed the many signs all
around us. I felt the need to dive into
this topic again (a little deeper) since it really is a struggle for many.
A few months ago I gave a caller
a prediction that her love would return.
At that point things were looking bleak. I told her to ask her angels
for a sign, so she said a little prayer asking for something that might give
her hope. A day or so later she crossed paths with one of his relatives, but she wasn’t sure if that was the
sign. I suggested she ask for another
sign. Again another relative appeared. She continued to ask for signs and each time odd
things happened, but she questioned whether or not it was her imagination. Well the three month wait I predicted ended
up being six months, but he did return. The
cards kept showing he was coming back and if it wasn’t for the signs she kept receiving,
I think we both might have given up!
Many of you have heard me say
that the most honest voice you will ever hear is the voice that comes from
within. So why is it so hard for us to listen? Why do we put our fate in
someone else’s hands? Why can’t we accept what is right in front of our
eyes? There’s an old saying my mom used
to tell me, “Don’t believe anything you hear and only half of what you see." When we ask for an answer from above and it
comes in the form of a feather, a thought, a song or some other mystical
message, what do we believe? How do we know that sign was for us?
Right now I’m in the middle of
making an important decision. I took my
own advice and asked for a sign, but I made it almost impossible for the answer
to be yes <big grin>. I had a hair
appointment scheduled in a couple weeks.
It’s not easy to get a hair appointment with my hairdresser at the last
minute, which is why I have to schedule appointments way in advance. So I asked my angels to give me a sign in the
form of her having an available appointment a week earlier (the impossible, I
thought). She called back within a
couple hours and said she just happened to have an available appointment. I decided I needed another sign. The next day I was out on a boat in the
ocean, trying to overcome seasickness when the boat immediately made a quick
circle around something in the water. I
jumped up to see what all the commotion was about and as I looked out the
window I saw a hammerhead shark swimming around. I stood there frozen with fear
and just about jumped out of my skin when someone came around the corner. I can’t tell you how happy I was once the
boat returned to the dock!! When I got home I looked up sharks in my book, “Animal
Spirit Guides” by Steven D. Farmer. The
shark actually shows up when we are “especially sensitive and cautions us to
be careful what environments and situations we expose ourselves to.” It tells
us to “swim through our emotions fluidly so as not to get stuck in any one
feeling.” It’s also a sign to “maintain
our dignity and self respect no matter who or what we encounter.” Last but not least, “it’s a sign to notice a
heightened ability for discernment and discrimination, sorting out what’s right
and what’s not right for yourself.”
Sometimes when I’m really stuck (like
now) and I can’t seem to make heads or tails of which is the best path to take,
I turn to my Catholic upbringing and do a nine day Novina Prayer. For me, prayer is a form of meditation and
meditation is another effective way to hear the voice within. Meditation can be something different for
everyone. One of my relatives argues
that an afternoon nap is a wonderful form of meditation; I’m not sure that
really counts. However, asking for a
message in our dreams is a great way to get a dialogue going with Spirit.
I look forward to hearing your
thoughts!
