FRIDAY'S POSITIVE AFFIRMATION: How To Learn To Like Yourself
 

 

Greetings Dear Ones ...

 

One of life's greatest challenges is to like yourself, warts and all.  Many of us were raised in a shame-based culture, having been taught that we came into the world with 'original sin' -  guilty from day one.  This type of programming sets us up for disliking ourselves as a bad person,  a failure, or even unattractive.  When you look at what we are given as role models, pencil thin celebrities who shave years off their birthdates through one cosmetic surgery after another, it sinks us lower into the abyss of disliking ourselves.  We even learn to dislike ourselves from television commercials where all we hear is about how to 'pop a cookie and lose weight' or to take this pill or buy that food program.  It is all about losing -  negative connotations - deficit, lack. Kind of hard to like yourself when you can't measure up to what society presents as good or attractive.  Today's affirmative treatment is to plainly and simply cast aside what anyone else's idea of who we are, or how we should look -- because what matters is how we perceive ourselves and .. that we like ourselves, in spite of our frailities.

 

" I am completely comfortable in my own skin.  I am absolutely and totally perfect exactly as I am for this place and time.  I have the ability to use my own free will to choose to make changes in myself as suits my needs."

 

After you repeat this affirmative treatment, three times in sets of threes, punctuate it with a big SMILE!   Be more kind to yourself and keep these tips handy ... 

 

1.  You have the power to change anything you don't like about yourself.

2.  Change comes in gradual steps, one at a time.

3.  Count your blessings ~ write down all your positive traits and things you like about yourself..

4.  Write down things that others like about you.

5.  Make a list of your accomplishments.

6.  Think less about your problems and think more about helping others by caring, sharing and doing.

7.  Recognize that your shortcomings and frailities are challenges set in place for you to work on.

8.  Understand that rejection takes two -- the rejector and the rejectee.  Don't accept and wear the cloak of rejection 100%.

9.  Know that not everybody is going to like you and accept you -- realize that in the big scheme of things, this equates to their loss, and move on.

10.  You will never have regrets as long as you learn something from every experience.
