Every year at this time, we vow to do this or not do that as in "New Year's Resolutions" You know ... lose 20 lbs, exercise every day, quit smoking, go Vegan, take vitamins every day, drop that user boyfriend or girlfriend, etc. So .. how do you keep a New Year's Resolution that you've made?
First, trust the process. It is half the battle just thinking about making a resolution that will change something in your life for the better. And, then .... use the power of positive thought to keep you on track with your resolution. Today's Positive Affirmation will help you stick to your goal by giving you permission to do so!
"My goal to follow through with my New Year's resolution is within my grasp. I effortlessly ease myself through the day to day and moment to moment challenges to reach my goal, and give myself permission to succeed. I am following through to completion to reach my goal."
If you haven't made a concious choice to resolve an issue from 2008, it is not too late to do so now. Just look around you and write a list of the pro's and con's of situations your are involved in right now, whether it is looking for a change in job, a change in relationship or a change of a bad habit. You can do it by following these steps:
1. Identify the situation or habit that needs to be changed. Write a pro and con list with positives on one side and negatives on the other side to help you identify areas that could use sprucing up or change all together!
2. Recognize the benefit from the change. Look at all sides of the situation you would like to change and see how changing it will promote good for you and others. If your habit is removing a negative person in your life, you may see that your stress level will change, your financial picture may improve, your children may feel less put upon.
3. Implement a plan for change. Write a plan and stick to it. Take into consideration how your plan will impact you and the completion of your resolution. For instance, if you are quitting smoking, know that you will feel pretty awful physically and emotionally the first few days, so getting a prescription from your medical practitioner ahead of time will help you get through the harder times more easily.
4. Surround yourself with a support network. Let your friends and loved ones know what you resolution is so that they can keep your bolstered emotionally by offering encouragement.
5. Utilize the power of positive thought to help you reach your goal and effect the change. Use today's Positive Affirmation to help you stay balanced through the change. Repeat it often, and not only when you feel tempted to give up. Use this affirmation even when you feel totally gung-ho on sticking to your resolution.
Please know that you have my deepest gratitude for allowing me to enter your intimate space this past year. My gift to you is to make a change, even if only one thing, that serves your highest purposes and the good of the whole. Do something for YOU and make it stick.
