KARMA CHAMELEONS: Embracing, Forgiving and Moving On

No ... not Boy George ~smile~ but that sure was a fun song ! A Karma Chameleon is a person who changes their colors to inflict karma on others ... without realizing that it all comes back to them. The karma that they are creating is greatly magnified so that their out-of-balance status becomes more and more difficult to endure. At this point, the Karma Chameleon begins to blame others for their stroke of bad luck. Well, why not? It couldn't be them, could it?
Yes. It can, and it is.
In the song, Boy George sings "You come and go, you come and go ..." and this is quite true of a real life Karma Chameleon. They wend their way into the lives of others, back and forth, never quite being sure which person to talk about, to stir up the volume and excitement, and playing as many sides as they can always showing a different aspect of their personality. Karma Chameleons contradict themselves often, depending upon who they are speaking with at the time. Their colors change as quickly as their words, always trying to blend into the atmosphere in which they have placed themselves.
We all meet Karma Chameleons in our lifetimes. At first they are hard to spot because we only hear one side of their tale. However, as time goes by we quickly learn that trouble always seems to be brewing in a pot they have just left. Conflict follows their every move and the unsuspecting gentle person is left with a quizzical thought .. "What did I do?"
First it is important to recognize that Karma Chameleons happen .. like 'stuff'. And, they actually have a lesson to teach, albeit a tough lesson for those of gentle nature. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off and move on, all the more wiser that you have been touched by such a teacher. You'll undoubtedly hear sickly sweet words of patronization, telling you what a good person you are, or that you are so nice and kind and don't deserve the hardships in your life. Don't be fooled by this ploy. Give the Karma Chameleon wide berth and cross them from your list of trusted friends. Karma Chameleons are not friends at all, but rather wolves in sheep's clothing preying on those who easily give of themselves to others from a loving place. There is no love in the heart of a Karma Chameleon, not even for themselves.
You'll probably notice that Karma Chameleons flit from friend to friend and do not have a history of long lasting relationships. They are fair weather friends, going whichever way the wind blows.
I write this because I hear a lot from callers who describe Karma Chamelons in their lives. Be aware. Be smart. And protect yourself from these psychic vampires who suck up your time and energy for their own greedy purposes.
Enclose yourself in a protective bubble of pure diamond-white light. Create a mirror finish on the outside of your bubble so that any time you meet a Karma Chameleon, their image is reflected back to them. One thing they cannot stand is to see inside their own heart!
