Thanks for that. I lived in Portland, Oregon when it happened. We had falling ash for days and could see the eruption. I had to wear one of those white surgical masks outside because I was a jogger. So I would not breath ash in. When I got sober in 1989 a friend of mine was a pilot. She and I would take a 2 seater and fly around the crater of St. Helens, it was spectacular.
