How to keep healthy boundaries in your relationships

Availability...
I will not be available next week from Wednesday am early next weekuntil the following Wednesday December 17th December as I will be travelling to London and Dublin to attend a funeral for my aunt Rose who was born in Tipperary, Ireland and died at the ripe old age of 86 in London, England and will be buried on Friday of Next week. And while there I plan to attend a birthday party for my mothers 80th birthday in Dublin while I am in Europe.
Apologies for the inconvenience, but I do need to attend both events.....

Joan,

My thoughts & prayers are with you and your family at this time.

There is a joke in our family about funerals...the only difference between an Irish wedding & a funeral is the cake.
We Irish like to celebrate the life of our loved one and song and dance are a part of that. When my mother passed away the celebration of her life after the funeral really brought comfort & love to my 13 year old heart.

But its the closest to Christmas I have been home for almost ten years..

This has been a year where I have lost an uncle in Australia (my mothers brother) and an aunt (my fathers sister) in London. And I am glad to have both of my parents, my father is 82 and still golfing as many days a week as he can and my mother ( while having many health issues ) has reached the age of 80 ( well December 15th she will be)
And consider myself lucky that as one of ten we are all healthy and barring two run ins with cancer ( a brother has fully recovered from colon cancer and a sister has recovered from breast cancer, both this year) and hope that long may it continue..
