Boundaries

How to keep healthy boundaries in your relationships

File under things never or say to an advisor :-)

Are you a real psychic?

How accurate are you?

How accurate is YOUR timing?

Do you ONLY use tools?

You ONLY use cards?

When will I meet the love of my life?

When will I have my first child?

If you are a true psychic, I would like to know my future?????

Maybe it's just me?

I do not think those are unreasonable questions to ask at all.if someone is paying they should be able to ask away!!!!!

You missed the point of that post on my blog. It is disrespectful in my humble opinion for anyone to ask a professional are you a REAL doctor? Are you a real hairdresser?  And ANY question prefaced with that kind of negative preface makes the reader (me anyway) feel defensive from the get-go which may result in a less than stellar performance. To question the accuracy before the reading offends me personally. It appears you disagree, and quite vehemently :-)
Have a NICE day!!!!!

Dear Joan:
I agree with you and those questions get on my nerves also.  Of course anyone can ask anything they want because they pay like Gee says but it sets a tone for the reading that is not good.  If they do start making implications like "are you a real psychic" what do they think we will tell them anyway?  No!  Well that is a foolish thing to say and it will get you off on the wrong foot with the advisor who's intent is to help you.  Just my humble opinion here but I think mutual respect should be the first thing you think of regardless if you are paying for something or not.

I have never had a psychic take offense to any of those kinds of questions. I have asked those types of questions and never once, except ones who turned out to be bogus, took offense.

How rude of you to infer that anyone who would take offence is bogus. I do not ask my hairdressed is she is a REAL hairdresser and it would be NORMAL to have her take offense at that. You are making broad sweeping and what I find to be offensive statements.  I had an appointment with a doctor for my son and my ex ( his father) asked questions of the doctor that that doctor found offensive, (where did you get your degree from etc) needless to say we found another one since the doctor made his displeasure KNOWN passive agressively during the remainder of that visit, and his dad did not come to that appointment. I do not do long term readings, and would take offense if I was questioned about whether I was a *real* psychic as opposed to the *bogus* ones you speak of before I read for anyone. Those types of questions only bring about non specific readings which are general and only apply in a broad manner as opposed to specific short term readings which I personally prefer and specialize in, and I am NOT bogus...... :-)

No, I do not agree with the philosophy that $$ gives you exemption from expectations of conversational roles and politeness principles. . That is one big damage that consumer culture has brought to our lives. I think Joan's example of seeking service from any other provider is a legitimate one. You would not question ahead of time, lest that spoil the spirit of a cooperative relationship, but see what transpires, and THEN question or criticize the service provided. Psychic phenomena, unlike other professional services, are even more dependent on an energy exchange and good faith, for it is not science and indeed DEPENDS on belief, so bad attitude and disbelief will invalidate it from the get go. If you seek certainty without faith, the psychic realm is probably not where you should be...go spend money somewhere else.

# re: my own view of Joan's readings @ Tuesday, July 03, 2007 7:26 AM

I would like to add that I have found Joan's readings to be 1. very accurate on timing, down to the day 2. extremely accurate on personalities involved 3. accurate beyond predictions, for self-analysis and self-growth 4. always a good idea when I have had questions, for she will lead you through you own life process with sincerity and assurance.
