Boundaries

How to keep healthy boundaries in your relationships

How Fast can YOU perform?
Now take your mind out of the gutter.....I mean how fast can you perform a reading?
For me it depends, have I read you before? Is this a quick question that could be taken care of in full detail in three minutes, give me a second to say hello, ask what you need and spread those cards to see what comes up....
But PLEASE know that if you tell me to hurry up, it may in fact effect the quality of the reading I am trying to do for you. I DO know that the longer you talk the more you pay, but never try to keep you on the phone, in fact I have been accused of talking too fast often :-)
We are not performing monkeys that instant answers come to and if I have not read  for you before...it may take me a minute or two but after three minutes on the phone and you are feeling under pressure and you attempt to transfer that to me by telling me to hurry up and give you the answer quickly because it is costing you too much to be on the phone that may in fact affect the exchange of energy in the reading and may ( not always though) effect what comes up IF you are telling me to hurry, Just remember I am human, not some all knowing and seeing entity...or a performing monkey.
Just a thought I felt strongly I needed to share....

Dear Joan:

I can relate for sometimes I feel like a speed racer and just cannot always do a terrific job in 3 minutes.  Thanks for reminding us and giving us a things to think about.

I give out free minutes at various times . . . and when I get a call . . . I surprise myself with how much information I can get out in less than 3 minutes!

I do require them to concentrate on their energy ball and projection . . . but once the energy is captured in the cards . . . things can go amazingly fast . . .

I rationalize the loss of time spent on the phone with a client appreciating the fast accurate reading . . .

Then when a client is ready to revisit and get a more indepth, karma, previous lives . . . relationship issues and development . . . we make up for the fast and sometimes the free minute readings.

Best service should result in best clients . . . I believe.

I am quite generous with free minutes and continue to be so but on a first time reading ( which is what this blog was about) I was told to hurry it up, I had done a full spread within 3 minutes and given an overall view of the situation but there was another question required to be answered and I was taken aback to be told to *HURRY IT UP* when i felt I had already done so and was in no way trying to keep the person on the phone...And yes being able to perform quickly IS a part of the service on this site, however we are not performing monkeys that can tune in in less than a minute...

Joan, Cute blog, enjoyed it!

I use to try to fit so much in that it would exhaust me and cause me to overload. We funny human beings, we want what we want immediately. We push, we rush, we have to have right now! Sometimes you explain what you see and get, and some how the person does not "understand" what you are relaying to them, Or they just do not want to hear the actual results.
Sending minutes out to get someone started on their reading in the beginning is great so you and that person can take your time to connect. The connection is very important inorder to get an accurate read. You need that 3-4 mins to get comfortable and for the client to get eased and relaxed.
I would not rush ever again on a "reading" it claims your gain. You wipe out and that is not beneficial. Making rates lower, and sending out connection minutes makes a really big difference for a fantastic read together.
Your no monkey in a circus :)

Donna

I just knew that I felt very uncomfortable being told to *hurry it up* and it made me almost nervous shuffling the cards when I knew I was in NO way taking a long time to do this reading and the knowledge that  I was expected to do very quickly...made me question how accurate I could be under that kind of pressure?

You wonder to Joan why someone is pressuring another person so much to get that answer? As if the whole key to their happiness is hanging in the balance in that moment. That to me just shouts frantic behavior, and you should not have to operate under those conditions. Just say No! lol lol

We have all been guilty of frantic energy at times, and
those are the kinds of situations that teach us the most or stretch us beyond our emotional comfort zones. The more we care, the more we learn from some of our relationships....

I am a very quick reader, but when I'm put under pressure it makes me slower, not quicker. I never waste time. I always get straight to the point. So I can really identify with what you are describing, Joan. It's the reason I don't like giving out free minutes - people expecting their life story in 3 minutes. I don't think so! LOL

I don't mind giving out free minutes, but I DO mind being told they are wanting a reading to test you, and they have been given free minutes before from you...
But I am not sure we perform at our best under duress.

When I did my first 3-minute reading for a client on Keen, I was amazed how fast the time went as I'm used to no less than 15 minute appointments in private practice. However, the answers came quickly as usual and I surprised myself as to how much information I provided. Thank you for reminding readers that a pressured, rushed reading may not bring the best results. For me, one specific question is all that can be handled efficiently in 3 minutes!
