Boundaries

How to keep healthy boundaries in your relationships

Speaking of Spam....

and not the canned type although I hear the sales are up with the bad economy and all.........

Keen has it's own special type of Spam....

Isn't it great that some readers have a *special message* for me? FOR ME? L'IL ol ME? Whatever did I do to deserve that?

I cannot believe that another reader would send me 1 free minute? For ME?  I'm so special......

Some readers email me to tell me what time they are available, do I tell you what time I am going to have my lunch? I think that IF you want me, you will find me and you don't need me needlessly emailing you to tell you my schedule...

Or that you are *BACK*, heck I did not know you were gone.......... sorry if that is remiss of me ........

Somtimes you email me to tell me to CALL YOU NOW!! This minute? Can I use the bathroom first? Or does it have to be this minute?

Sometimes you tell me you are available for appointments, call backs etc....honest If I want you, I will find you, emails looking for business really turn me off personally ( I do not know how you feel about it, I personally do not care for  it).

Some advertise their sales, hey that's great but I am not sure I am in the market for a sale at the moment....I would like the freedom to call whomever I want, IF I want, When I want and not have many emails vying for business.

I send out emails when I am going on vacation, because I will be gone for a week or two....maybe that offends some, and for that I apologise, but many emails offering services I am not interested in just kind of niggles me :-)

Spam, spam, spam, spam..........

Joan, I was just peeking at the blogs hoping for a smile and you provided it. Thank you! I just love your writing style and you're perfectly on target with this one. :)

I'm still giggling. I just love sarcasm! It's so funny when it's wielded well.

Dear Joan;

I get so much of that type of stuff in my inbox on Keen and I try to be polite about asking them to remove me from their solicitation list but after awhile I just stop trying and block them.  I really hate to do that because I just don't like the idea of blocking anyone from access to me by email if they have something they need to connect with me about but this continuous barrage of CALL ME is a little trying.  I send out short messages of greetings for the Holidays but I don't solicit my services to those that have never called me before.  I just find it a little pushy.

I have had to ask people repeatedly to remove me and I still get emails? Now THAT bothers me! Thanks Cyd, comment appreciated and I agree Rosie...the ones that bother me the most are the ones that say they have a *message* for you, that REALLY bothers me as I feel that we have a responsibility that goes along with this gift and misuing it is not cool in my book...

Nice post. I had one advisor call me and then all of a sudden I am on her mailing list. On and off and her daily schedule. Sending one free minute to call. I feel guilty because I don't,THen I stop and think. Well I didn't ask her to call me and put me on her mailing list. I don't do that. I give my free minutes to clients based on the call ratio and feedback. It does become irritating. Blogs is another thing, but personal emailing is another. Thanks for the posts.

I am not an advisor but I thought we were not supposed to get mail from anyone we have not called and boy that is not the case.  I get free minutes and the good old scary one where they claim they got a special message just for you and it is not good news.  Of course you got to pay twenty dollars to hear what news they got.  I hate that because somewhere in the back of your mind you are thinking "maybe that is something I really need to check into" or something like that.  I think those kind of emails are terrible.  Thanks Joan for letting me complain.

Willow, that is ONE thing that really bothers me a lot, it is like emotional blackmail and I do not care for that, it is like a mis-use use of the gift that was given to us. Some people fall for that because they are in pain about an issue and are looking to grasp onto anything to help them, I do not care for it at all.... it plays on the fears of hexes etc that gives all of us readers who desire to be honest and ethical a bad name, bad names are easy to come by and hard to break.....thanks for your comments heart and soul and willow..

Actually fried spam with eggs is very good and it can be julienned into a salad as well.  Spam reminds of SPAM!  Yum, but the other spam gotta gotta gotta go.......
