Those of us....
who started on keen with low prices ( sheesh I was 99 cents for 6 months) and did what I call earn their stripes have watched new readers come on and charge an arm and a leg for their readings. The new Featured Listing made is easier for that to happen and while many complained about that it did make it easier for people with lower rating numbers make themselves more seen and thereby able to take calls.
There seems to be a feeling that the more a reader charges, the better they are. Now I am not sure who started that rumor but I do not necessarily agree wholeheartedly with that feeling. I know plenty of readers who are really good at what they do, but are not charging high prices or unrealistic amounts per minute for their readings. Some charge so much I want a miracle with that reading to go please :-)
Some readers ( according to what I hear) feel that they are worth their high prices, but value is in the eyes ( and pocket book) of the client. Your worth may be in fact a delicate balance of your own feelings about your worth and the worth that a client places on you because of your quality or style of reading.
Some clients complain that readings are expensive, but one could argue that you are paying for the availability, and the expertise of the reader you choose kind of like a plumber that you might only need once in a while but you want him to be there when YOU want to call him. It's amazing how differently some people will feel about different issues, and it's those differences that make the world go around. I think one can be a good reader and not charge exhorbetant prices
Keen is a great platform from which to run a business, and while there are many different styles of readers, who charge different prices, it is only the clients who decide who they call, who they call back and whom they leave feedback for... and us readers need to remember that, otherwise we have lost sight of the reason we do this... No one who calls us, owes us anything and certainly keen whom we are independent contractors for does not owe us anything either. And let's face it, if we are good readers, they WILL call us, and not because they owe us in any way, they will call us because we are good, not because we have paid a fortune to feature but because they want to talk to us.
As for Blogs? The ones who protested the loudest appear to the blog happiest, and if you are writing what clients perceive to be a quality blog, you may in fact get new clients out of that too.... Some of the changes may be scary at first but we all usually settle down with them and most have ended up being better for us in the long term and for that again I am grateful to keen.
Just my two cents...
