A Gathering Grove Grand Opening
This weekend I had the most incredible experience at the grand opening of A Gathering Grove. It was the most remarkable confluence of the talents of friends. The owner is like a sister to me, and a gentleman who is like a brother to me was entertaining with his band, Pagasys. I sold tarot readings, tea leaf readings, crystal ball readings and my candles with another member of my chosen family, Devlyn, who is trying to branch out with a tarot business of her own! I gave her quite a few tips and I'll be sure to let you know if she takes my advice and joins Keen! I had the good fortune to be able to get a reading from her using her Thoth tarot deck. Although she is new to the business, her readings are thoughtful, inspired and drew from all areas of life to examine the issue I set forth for her. She also gave good advice for both immediate action, and for more intangible, long-term exploration. I also liked that her brochures included an evaluation form for clients to fill out!
I did many readings for Family members and gladly made myself scarce when a potential client was drawn to Devlyn. Later on, she actually apologized to me since we noticed that new clients often picked her because she appears older than I. Devlyn sheepishly said, "I feel so bad because you have so much more experience than me!" I assured her that I was happy to give her new business a boost, but I laughingly related a tale from about five years ago when a local psychic fair leader told me I didn't fit her fair's image because I was too young. My solution? Politely bow out to other psychic co-ops and clean her out of business!
In other news, an Elder stepped forward to be my "denominational" reference when I apply for Clinical Pastoral Education, my first step towards becoming a Chaplain. It is a difficult endeavor to find a reference when one belongs to a mystery religion! Many of our members are secretive or at the very least discrete about their affiliation! Now I'm sending in applications, though it may be too late for fall quarter for most facilities! Wish me luck! My Elder is also thinking about the possibility of second initiation for me (think of it as getting a Masters Degree after having a Bachelor's Degree), however, she has to give it special consideration due to my disability. I have great appreciation that she is giving this deep thought as it would be easier to stop thinking about it due to fear for my safety or her reputation rather than working so hard to make sure that she's doing what the Gods want.
