Ask A Witch: All Grown Up in Tempe, AZ
Dear Alexandra,
I have had a problem with family. I don't follow the religion they do. I was Methodist and I would like to become Wiccan because my best friend is and she says it is cool. I want to, but am afraid. I thought maybe you could help and tell me what you think. Just keep in mind, I don't want to be everything my parents are. I want to be different instead of being their perfect little girl forever.

Dear AGU,
Two bad reasons to practice a religion are:
1.) Because your friend says it's "cool."
2.) Because you want to rebel against your parents.
Please do not become Wiccan for either of these reasons, and don't do anything you're afraid to do. If you want to be different from your parents, there are plenty of ways to express your individual personality with other things such as music and clothing choice as you're younger and by living your life as you choose as an adult.. If you feel negatively towards the Methodists, pinpoint why you disagree with them, and explore yourself further before seeking a new label. You'll only validate your family's perceptions of your childishness by avoiding true seeking.
Light!
Alexandra
