Ask A Witch: Alyson in St. Pete Beach, FL
Dear Alexandra...
This is very serious as well as time-sensitive. A few years ago my friend and I were young and stupid; we were in New Orleans and took some human bones from a St. Louis cemetery for no other reason than to display them and pay them homage. We also took part of an already shattered gravestone. I have, for the past four years, displayed these items as sacred and beautiful, nonetheless, I feel they have maybe brought on bad karma, as in I was wrong to take them from their place. I am moving now, and though these bones are sacred to me. I feel as though they belong in a proper place and, as I have grown up some over the years, I feel like I need someone to tell me what to do with the bones and part of the gravestone. I want to be at peace with the spirits I may have innocently tampered with. So what can I do with the bones and gravestone? I do not practice Wicca, but I am a very spiritual person who respects nature and I feel I have a real dilemma here. Thank you for taking the time to answer this! Blessed Be!

Dear Alyson,
The best solution would be for you to make an anonymous call to the St. Louis police department and ask if there would be a way for you to return the stolen items without suffering legal consequences. The families whose ancestral remains and grave site you desecrated would not be served by you taking care of the bones yourself. If you do choose to bury the bones and gravestone along with a prayer from your own spirituality, as far as most laws go, you are required to bury remains deeper than three feet and on property that is your own or that you have permission from the owner. You may have to call around in your local area and ask questions about where it might be legal to bury human remains. Please do go about it legally, as it is common for people to call in and ask such question in preparation for their own final rest.
Light!
Alexandra
