Ask A Witch: Converted in Necedah, WI
Dear Alexandra,
How do I tell my super-Christian mother that I have converted to another religion? She believes that only Christianity is right.

Dear Converted,
If you've decided that it isn't none of her business, then you should prepare yourself for her reactions. Remember that she feels Christianity is right just as much as you feel that your religion is right for you. Work hard to not get defensive if she fears for you. Choose a time to talk with her, and let you know that you have something very important and special to share with her. Let her know that you are not Christian, and tell her that you practice your religion. Be ready with definitions and resources if she wants them, but do not give her information if she does not want it. Be patient and let her speak her mind on the issue. When she is done you may ask, "would you like to hear what I believe?" Above all, treat her with the dignity and respect that you wish her to show to you. Show by your manner that your religion has made you a better person.
Light!
Alexandra
