Ask A Witch: Goth Friendless in Saginaw, MI

About half-way into my first year of college, I started feeling a little gothic, so I started wearing black nail polish and going to Hot Topic at the mall. I was going slow with this process to turn just a little "goth". My little sister hanged with a whole different crowd. Now she wants to be different, so she went and bought black clothes and everything like that and started hanging out with my mall friends! They were my friends first, and now they want to hang with her and do everything with her. She is not the center of attention, but she stole my friends away from me and I don't know what I should do?

What is wrong with your sister sharing friendships with the same people you spend time with? Friends can be friends with more than one person! Though it may be annoying to be copied, you were not the first person to think up the "goth" image either. Obviously, your sister admires you and wants to be more like you. With a strong, likable personality like that, you'll never be short on friends. Perhaps it's time to focus more on allowing yourself to be a good role model for your sister, and generous mutual friend to all without a gimmick or clique.
