It is very rare for an effective curse to be the cause of a break-up. It is likely unhelpful to look for a hex as the first cause, and can be quite harmful since you can actually "curse" yourself by being convinced that one exists! But since you asked, the usual way to tell if a spell has been placed on you is if somebody told you that they were the culprit. It is common for such magical practitioners to hedge their bets against ineffective spell work by planting the seeds for a little bit of the placebo effect from your own mind.
Other hints may include objects of yours or your loved ones stolen from you, (especially hair, nail clippings or clothing) or the appearance of ritual items on your property or the property of your loved ones. But spells are not limited to sympathetic or contagious magic, so there may be no physical evidence. Therefore, the best way for you to tell if such a spell has been placed on you would be to pray and shield yourself and see if the problem goes away. If not, then I'm afraid you've suffered a mundane break-up like the rest of us!
