Ask A Witch: Religious Reality in Canberra, Australia

Dear Alexandra,

I am wondering if you sense that all congregated religion is based on the same beliefs as one-another, is it just none of them can see past their own beliefs to see the similarities? I myself was baptized Church of England, but do not believe that going to church one day a week will help to repent my sins and help me live a merry life. I am a firm believer that what goes around does come back around, and that the cards do have an eerie sense of truth about them. However I do not like the feeling that my fate is in high hands then my-own. Life is circle which is balanced on a knife' edge.

Yours in good health,

P.S Keep up the good work, for it seems that some of the people that write to you are in need of great help and inspiration.

__________

Dear RR,

Khalil Gibran said, "Do not say, 'I follow the one true path of the Spirit,' but rather, 'I have found the Spirit walking on my path,' for the Spirit walks on all paths." Dion Fortune said that "all Gods are one God, all Goddesses are one Goddess, and there is one Initiator." Individuals from many spiritual paths have arrived at similar conclusions, and in fact, the Baha'i faith is based on such teachings. There is a spectrum of beliefs surrounding religion or "re-linking" to deity and I do fall somewhere along it. I value the diversity that makes the Gods we serve and our values different, however, I share your sense of interconnectedness and of being inextricably bound to one another. Perhaps the idea of "one" core truth is our simple human mind's way of interpreting "infinite" truths. Either way, it may be a moot point, as the idea that nothing is universal is an oxymoron and we each have to live in our own realities!

Light!

Alexandra
