I have been seeing a wonderful woman for the past 8 months. I've been living with her since August, 2001. Right now we are on a rocky path, and I don't know which way to go. She tells me that she wants to work things out between us, but her actions are telling me different. There is another guy in the picture. At the same time she wants me to still be there for her and give my support, both in love and financial ways. I guess what I'm asking is should I wait in the background and continue to to support her, or should I just say no and move on

Dear Robb,
Working through trust issues like that can be difficult or impossible depending on the people and the futures they seek. Be sure that you are not being used as a back-up. Since it sounds like there are no marriage vows or children in the picture, I would recommend taking a break from that relationship. Otherwise she would always wonder what may have been with the other man and you might be used by her in a repetitive cycle of abuse of trust.
