Ask A Witch: Seeing Things in Rock Hill, SC

Since approximately third grade I have been experiencing some rather disconcerting phenomenon. That is, seeing and hearing people, animals, as well as other creatures I've never encountered except in fiction when all these things were not truly there, along with occasionally having these people talk to others through me. After a particularly violent occasion when some of these things "spoke" through me, I was unfortunately committed to a mental institution for a short time. At that time my biological father came to see me while I was hospitalized. He told me at the time that I really wasn't crazy and he couldn't explain then but would soon. This past summer I had the opportunity to stay with him for a few months and he explained a lot to me. I was told that my family has had this gift for many many generations and that it was simply very strong in me and he had not had the opportunity to tell me about it or how to control it because of my parents being separated and me being so far away. He helped me as much as he could but his gifts were not nearly as strong as mine so I still have yet to fully understand them or control them. I really want to learn to use this to help others so I have procured and extensive collection of literature on the subjects of Wicca, Paganism, and the like. However I can find nothing that is of any help to me and my particular dilemma. Please help me if you can. Thank you so much.

I'm glad that you've already been working with mental health professionals, since it is best to partner with your medical resources in case there are some contributing factors. Your father sounds like a good touch-stone during your learning process as well. Your literary collection may indeed be targeted at those who wish to initiate such experiences rather than control them, but there are still tidbits that you can find useful when reading about energy working. For example, if you have come across the practice of Grounding and Shielding in your reading, that should be the foundation of your study to learn how to subdue your experiences through such means if possible. If you can get to the point where you can "turn it off" by allowing energies to move into the Earth you can then springboard to using it only in ways that benefit yourself and others.
