Making Money as an On-line Fortune Teller
Excerpt of an interview of me by a
Forbes writer.
Maureen Farrell: Where do you work as a fortune teller?
Alexandra Chauran: Renton, Washington state. I also work on-line through my business web-site and through those other web-sites that I mentioned.
Maureen Farrell: How much of your business is online through these sites and how much is through your store?
Alexandra Chauran: I've never owned my own storefront, preferring to make appointments
and then meet people in space that gets a percentage of my rate, for example, a curtained room off a metaphysical bookstore or an office within an alternative wellness center. For this reason, an on-line presence increases my off-line work! Also, since most appointments for fortune telling at parties happen during the evening, on-line work gives me a way to make my money during the day! I'd say I make about half of my income on-line. But most of my on-line
income is through my own web-site. Only about 5-10%, depending on the season, come through those other sites.
Maureen Farrell: What made you decide to go online for more revenue?
Alexandra Chauran: When I first began working as a fortune teller at age 18, I was living in a college dorm room, close to the city where I could make in-person appointments. But after a couple of years in school, I moved onto a boat, where I was more out of touch with things. That's when I started working on-line almost exclusively, starting with Keen.com. Today, if offers me the flexibility to work during times of the day that I might otherwise not be working as well as to serve clients that might otherwise not be able to get my help.
