My Divination Notes from the Vodou Priestess
Iya Onifa e-mailed me her notes from
my divination the other day. The whole time she and the other Iya who was scribing were taking notes, then she typed them up for me! That was kinda' nice! I need to take a page from her book and offer that to some of my in-person clients. Here are her notes for my records!
Divination on March 2, 2008
1. There is a strong calling to be a protector of women and children; a calling to work as a warrioress to protect both from harm and abuse. This is a powerful role, one that protects the sacred areas of initiation and the village while initiations are taking place. You have worked in this role on many sides of the equation over many centuries and lifetimes; you have worked as a village leader and protector of women and children. The balancing factor here is to work for the internal and external liberation of women and children concurrently, not to focus on one above the other. Recognizing which is to step forth and when takes discipline and training.
2. You are to build a shrine to the Orisa and to place objects there that represent them in your heart. Obatala and Oshun guide your head and feet respectively, Yemoja and Ogun, Sango, Orunmila, and your Egun call out strongly for recognition. The initiations of the Ilekes, Warriors, Isefa, and Priestess Initiation are all available to you for your spiritual development and unfolding. An Ibori is called for and the receiving of Obi as well. Vodu observances are indicated including that of Mami Wata. Leadership of people toward health, balance, wholeness, and grace are marked for you working as a Temple Leader.
3. You are to avoid allowing rain to fall directly on your head, additionally intense sunlight too. You are to protect your head. The wearing of more white is called for to bring about spiritual balance. This includes daily wear as well as nightclothing and head coverings.
4. There is negative energy being directed toward you from different outside sources. An Esu Shigidi is called for as well as a house cleansing. The receipt of the Warriors will aid in protecting you until you receive the consecrated representations of Esu Shigidi at your front and back doors.
5. Regarding more insight and involvement into Vodou, the New Orleans Voodoo Tarot is a suggested course of study based on your current use of Tarot and your familiarity with how it works. This will serve to give you more insight into the workings of their energies in a generalized way. There is also the Afro-Brazilian Tarot to explore.
