New FAQ: Can I share my reading?
Can I share my reading, or do I have to keep it secret or private?
I'm getting asked a lot by clients if they are allowed to share their readings, since another local reader and many on-line readers have told clients that it is bad luck to tell anyone the content of your reading. There is a well-meaning basis to this belief. Perhaps you were told as a child not to share your birthday or turkey wishbone wish or it wouldn't come true. My husband won't even read his fortune cookie fortune out loud, instead passing it silently to me across the table.
The reason behind this is that, if a malicious person knows anything about you, they can work against your goals. However, the entire point of my readings is to empower people to take charge of their own lives and free themselves from the perceived restrictions from external forces. Malevolent magical workers are rare enough not to have to worry about them in a normal, everyday life! Besides which, this form of prevention is, in my opinion, a bit restrictive. Almost like avoiding the chance of being mugged by never leaving your house.
I'll go out on a limb and suggest that I am of the opinion that the practice of telling clients to keep their readings secret should be abolished. At best, it limits the client and may create fear. At worst, it can allow those who use scripted readings to do so undetected. In the case of my fortune telling, your readings are yours to do with what you will. You can tell anyone about them, you can publish them in print or on-line, and I even encourage people to talk about my readings on social networks! Just like with my other written or recorded works, I do ask that you give credit to me by linking back to my web-site! Share your intentions, loudly and proudly, with the universe!
