Tales From The Business Phone Line

So, I was in Vancouver, Canada, visiting my mother, Madam Mayat. Right as we were strolling down the waterfront of Coal Harbour at six in the evening to go to dinner, my cell phone rang. I didn't pick up, due to roaming charges, besides which it was after my business hours. The phone rang endlessly, as I choose not to be cursed with Voicemail, until the client gave up and hung up the phone. As soon as it had stopped, the ringing began again, and I had to silence my phone throughout dinner time.

When we returned to my mother's home, I took up a calling card to return the phone calls of all the clients who had called me that day. First one to call back was the one who had phoned so repeatedly. She answered the phone surprised and let me know that she had wanted a palm reading, but had already gone to another practitioner since I was not available. She seemed as shocked to hear from me as you would be if you had gotten a call from McDonalds after driving to a Burger King when the former restaurant was closed.

I thanked her while hanging up and turned to my mom explaining in a relieved voice that clients can rarely score a same-day appointment with me, so it was good that she found another person to help her! My mom laughed and said that the other palmist could run away from her dinner table every night as far as she cared! She shared with me that her best clients were always the ones who respected her time the most.

Then I called another client who had only phoned once during the day. He remembered calling me but still wasn't sure of his needs, just that he wanted an energy worker. He asked if I knew about Kundalini and energy working through Chakras as a personal practice. His tone was reverent but curious. We spoke for quite a while, and when he closed the call saying that he didn't want to take up any more of my time with his confusion, I urged him to call or email if he had any further questions at all, stressing that if I can't help him, I can find somebody who can. As I finished off returning phone calls for the day making appointments for the following week with all the others who had called, I mused to myself that I'm willing to go to the ends of the Earth for my best clients. Thank goodness there are others out there to help take care of the rest!
