Clients often ask me if they have any psychic gifts of their own, and if so, how to develop them. This is what I tell them.

We all have some sort of talent in this area, but everyone’s gift is unique. The best thing to do is to identify the gift already there most strongly and develop that, rather than deciding on some arbitrary area and forging ahead. It’s a bit like sports – if you’re 6’4” then it would be easier to try out for the basketball team than to set your sights on becoming a jockey.

To identify your own gift, think about what you seem to be good at already. Do you have vivid dreams? Are you good with sick people? Have you ever seen or sensed a ghost? Do you just “know” things? You could also think about people in your family. Do you have an aunt who reads teacups? A grandmother who was a palmist? Or perhaps a mother who is a masseuse? Those are all clues as to where your own talents might lie. What are you drawn to? What sounds as though it might be fun? It’s not meant to be all dreary hard work!

The next port of call is some research. Read up about the area you have identified. You’ll soon know if it feels like “you.” Through your reading you may also find some other area you hadn’t thought of but which “speaks” to you. Go with the flow and see where Spirit leads you. All knowledge is useful, even the avenues you decide not to pursue.

The final step is to put it into practice. Use it, or lose it! You may want to attend a workshop or seminar but avoid the highly priced offerings in the glossy magazines. You are much more likely to find something helpful in your local Spiritualist Church, or in the psychic development group you locate through a nearby New Age shop. If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is!

It’s a life long journey, so if you think you’re there, you’re not. The most gifted people are generally also the most humble. Keep learning, keep exploring, and you’ll amaze even
