Are you facing surgery? Do you have family members who are accident prone or who bruise easily? Then add some arnica to your medicine cabinet. It is a traditional herbal remedy for shock, bruising, tissue repair and mending broken bones. In New Zealand, many doctors recommend it as a complementary therapy.

It is available from health food stores and good pharmacies in the form of cream, drops or tablets. The tablets are great for people undergoing surgery. Take them as prescribed immediately after the operation for post operative shock and to promote healing. The cream can be rubbed directly into bruised skin.

I gave my son arnica when he broke his arm. He was out of the cast in two weeks instead of the usual six. I also gave it to my husband after his appendix operation and he made a very swift recovery. He was back at work the following week.

Like all natural remedies, you need to follow the instructions. Doubling the dose will NOT make it work twice as fast!
