I am always encountering people who dread dealing with the "cack" cards. You know the ones - the Three of Swords, the Ten of Swords, Death and all the other "doom and gloom" cards. They take one look at the card and their eyes glaze over. They focus on that card to the exclusion of all others,  staring at it like a deer in the headlights.

It is human nature to want things to be trouble free, but the reality of life is that there are always problems to be resolved. The Cack Cards are not intended to be viewed as harbingers of disaster. They are about difficulties to be faced and problems to be solved. Every one of them has a postive message as well as the more obvious negative one. They each contain clues as to how to proceed.

A good challenge is to sit down with each of the Cack Cards in turn and to look for its positive side. Continue to do this until you no longer find them so negative. Each card is full and rounded in its interpretation, just like life. There are no Black and Whites, just infinitely rich shades of grey.
