It is traditional at this time of year to make New Year’s Resolutions. It is also traditional to backslide and fall by the wayside with these goals! The reason for lack of success is twofold.

1. It is necessary to write your resolutions down – verbal intentions are not nearly so effective.

2. It is necessary to set positive goals. Setting negative goals, e.g. “I am going to give up smoking’, does not work. It is important to frame resolutions in positive terms, e.g. “I am going to improve the health of my lungs”.

Today, write down 5 things you would like to achieve this year. Attach your list to the December section of your diary or calendar so you can see your progress.

Happy New Year!
