If you ever want to get some interesting insights into people you "think" you know well, ask a group of your women friends about the way they hang out the washing. I was at a meeting where this topic was used as an ice breaker, and even today, nearly twenty years later, I still remember my jaw dropping at some of the things people said.

One lady, whom I'd always thought of as very laid back, colour matched all her pegs. Another one never hung her undies up outside as she didn't think it was "proper." A third made sure that all her son's tee shirts with dubious slogans on them were facing the house of the neighbour she disliked. And so on ... and on ...
