When you're lying awake at night with problems running through your head in an endless loop, you need something to break the cycle and calm the mind. I find that Julian of Norwich's words do the trick. Julian was a 14th century nun about whom little is known, but her words resonate. There is something about them that spread instant calm, possibly because it is impossible to say them quickly. So, when your check book won't balance, you are worrying about your kids, or you are dreading going to work in the morning, repeat these words:

"All will be well,

And all will be well,

And all manner of things will be well."
