Make a Wish
Make a Wish
Have you ever noticed how some people seem to be “lucky”? They seem to get everything they ask for. Others seem to be lucky in some areas of their lives but not in others. And there are some who never seem to get what they would like out of life.
The Bible says “ask and it shall be given you.” (Matthew 7:7) It says that if we pray, we will be given what we ask for. The New Age says that if we do positive affirmations they will work. The business world uses “mind power” to bring dreams into manifestation. And witchcraft uses spells to magick things into being. They are all using the same basic technique – so why does it work for some and not for others?
The answer is that many people make a wish, but have no faith that it will ever be granted. They cancel it before it has been properly sent out. One of the things people wish for most often is love. In our heart of hearts we long to meet our soul mate. Let’s listen in to the mind of someone wishing for a soul mate:
“I’d love to meet the perfect partner” (But I’m not sure if he even exists)
“I want a man who is kind and considerate” (Yeah, right, fat chance)
“He would be good with children” (But I’m so afraid of being hurt)
“He would not be scared of commitment” (With my luck he’d probably turn out to be gay!”)
A wish sent out in this way lacks the element of faith. It limits the Universe’s ability to deliver what is being asked for. It is like going into a restaurant, requesting the seafood platter, but countermanding the order before it is sent to the kitchen - then wondering why dinner never arrives! To receive a wish you have to believe you deserve it.
You also have to be very clear about what you are asking for. The Chinese have a saying – “be careful what you wish for, you just may get it!” Let us go back to the person wishing for their soul mate. Let’s say they wish for “a man who is tall, dark and handsome.” They just might be given a tall, dark, handsome, selfish alcoholic! Be very specific about what you ask for. There is a lot of truth in those old fairy stories where the traveller is granted three wishes by the genie of the lamp – and the wishes rebound upon him in unexpected ways.
There is a very good book about attracting your soul mate. It is called A Course in Love by Joan Gattuso. But the methods she suggests will not work if you have no confidence in them. Another similar book is Finding Your Soul Mate by Paul Fenton-Smith. Your Heart’s Desire by Sonia Choquette describes the process of making your wishes come true in great detail. It is an excellent starting point if you want to start making some changes to your life. John Kehoe’s book Mind Power is another title worth looking at. And Shakti Gawain’s book Creative Visualisation is a classic in the field of wish craft. So next time you see a full moon …..make a wish…..
