Iofiel is the Angel of Beauty. The name means “the Beauty of God.” God’s beauty is eternal – it never goes out of style. It is found in all natural things, including people. If we want to live in harmony with ourselves, with others, and with the Universe, we have to learn to see the true beauty in everyone, which is something quite different from the artificial standards of beauty imposed on us by the fashion and advertising industries.

 

If you are uncomfortable with your own body image, start by finding something about yourself that you do like – it might be your eyes, the texture of the skin inside your elbows, or maybe the shape of your thumbnail. Start noticing and pampering that part of yourself. As you grow in appreciation, start extending your attention to other parts of yourself. Eventually you will come to realize that you too are a beautiful creation of the divine.

 

Do the same with those around you. Instead of being critical or repulsed, learn to see the wisdom of age reflected in wrinkled skin, delight in the abundance of ample flesh, and revel in the multiplicity of varying skin colours and textures. They are all part of creation – they are all part of love. Live and love abundantly, as the creator does and you will find peace and calm within.
